World of Warcraft And Those Of Us Who Play...
MMORPGs -- Massive Multi-player On-line Role Playing Games
World of Warcraft is by far the king of MMORPGs with a solid foundation
of lore, architecture and gaming artificial intelligence and graphics.
Every new MMORPG has to hold up against it -- in one fashion or another.
With any popular gaming/social environment you will see all kinds of behavior. Be cautious who you give
your information to and remember friends lists are for those you enjoy playing with -- while the ignore
list is great for those you wish to avoid.
There are several types of players:
- Casuals -- Quest, Level, Occasional Random Dungeons.
- Guild Raiders -- Help out and play with others in your guild.
- Hard Core Raiders -- Raiding 10/25 member raids on regular basis
- PvPers -- Player vs Player players who run battle grounds or are on a PvP server
- Gankers/Griefers -- Those who enjoy ruining gameplay of others.
- Crafters -- Those who craft items/potions/food.
- Farmers/Gatherers -- Those who build of a supply of raw materials.
- Botters -- Farmers who use external programs to play (report them!)
Having experienced all of the above, I tend to stay casual and play across many different class/spec characters.
