My name is Sheila Hoover and I am the Baby Nurse here at Thumbprint Nursery. I have been married to my husband Dennis for 35 years and together we raised "5" wonderful children. I would like to give much thanks to my oldest son for helping me, his not so computer smart mom, for getting this site up and running.
I have been making dolls for 25 years. I started with making dolls for my daughters. I have made all kinds of dolls from soft sculpured dolls to Porcelain. I also have spent many years painting and have had many classes in oil and tole painting. When I discovered reborning dolls I found something that combined all the things I love to do. Making these babies and watching them take on a little personality of their own and almost come alive is so exciting for me. I absolutely love making these little ones come to life. I am somewhat of a perfectionist and I put a great deal of time and love into my babies. I spend several days just rooting the hair 1 to 2 hairs at a time. It is well worth the extra effort as it makes the hair look like it is actually growing right out of the little babies scalp.
Having "5" Children of my own and "4" grandbabies has certainly played a roll in my creations. I watched my grandchildren come into the world and there is nothing like a newborn baby with their scrunched up little faces. As you will see from my work my favorite reborns are the newborn babies. I have loved dolls and babies since I was a little girl so making these babies is a real work of love for me. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.
