Building the OTW Type VII Conning Tower
and a Retrofit for the 32nd Parallel Hull Type VIIc

Before:

A client ask me to help do a retrofit / rebuild on his 32nd Parallel Type VIIc U-boat. The hull was built many years ago and had seen better days. It was in need of some repair and a new coat of paint. He had purchased OTW Designs' "running hardware" and "conning tower kit" for the Type VII to aid in the re-birth. He supplied the parts, I supplied the time.

After sending out several e-mails (Jeff LaRue, Don Prince, and Bob Dimmack) asking for some help, I received a set of instructions from Bob Dimmack that sort-of set the game plan in motion. The reference pictures from Jeff LaRue and Don Prince were invaluable. Many thanks to those two.

After finishing the model I've had several e-mails asking about parts and templates. Click here for more info.

Because of the size of the pages - I need to break the progress into several parts.
