Extra Stuff for the OTW Type VII Conning Tower (Part 6)

By popular demand, several kits have been assemble to enhance the construction of the OTW Conning Tower

Conning Tower Entry Hatch.

This hatch can be used for both a 1/24 Type XXIII or a 1/32 Type VIIc. It maybe a bit big for a 1/35 representation. The picture below shows the hatch in the Type XXIII configuration (left), and Type VIIc configuration (right).

All aspects of the hatch can be made to move, lid and spring area.

The hatch cover is molded for the Type XXIII. For the Type VII there are two indicating dimples for proper handle placement. Drill two new holes and fill in the holes for the XXIII and leave off the mounting plate.

Type VII Main Vents

Molded in 3 layers of heavy fiberglass cloth, these shells give the conning tower added realism with the tapered shape and thinness of the vent walls. Trim and sand to the desired shape and then add photo etched screen to achieve perfect realism.
