| The OBJECT of the Confraternity's special devotion is the Adorable Face of Our Lord, outraged and disfigured in the Passion. The INTENTION of the Confraternity is to make reparation to His Divine and offended Majesty for two great crimes belonging especially to our times. These are Blasphemy and Profanation of the Holy Day of Sunday. Another intention is to preserve youth and the family circle from the fatal effects of drunkenness and immorality. This reparation is necessary and urgent. To accomplish these objectives, members assume the following obligations: | |
| 1. | To recite daily for the intentions of the Confraternity one Our Father, one Hail Mary and one Glory Be to the father with either the invocation "Behold, O God our Protector; and look on the Face of Thy Christ: or "Lord, show us Thy Face, and we shall be saved". |
| 2. | To wear constantly an image of the Holy Face, either the medal, cross or scapular. |
| 3. | Zealously propagate devotion to the Holy Face. |
| 4. | Never to blaspheme or curse and, insofar as possible, to prevent anyone under your care from so doing. Be very zealous about saying the ejaculation "Blessed Be the Name of God" when you hear cursing or blasphemous words, or when you witness impious sacrilege. |
| 5. | Make frequent visits to the Blessed Sacrament especially on Sundays. When entering the church, with the INTENTION of making reparation, genuflect piously with eyes on the Tabernacle. Always make a visit to Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament BEFORE praying at any shrine in the church. Recall that the Holy Face is TRULY PRESENT. |
| 6. | When you read or witness blasphemies concerning the Blessed Virgin Mary, defend her honor by words or silently repeat "Blessed be the Holy and Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary Mother of God". |
| 7. | Recite daily one or more of the longer prayers in the Manual-Golden Arrow, PRAYER FOR PRIESTS, Prayer for Sinners, etc., any prayer of your choice. Offer Holy Communion and assist at Mass in honor of the Holy Face and in preparation of blasphemy. ALWAYS make the sign of the cross with respect. Consecrate to the Holy Face all your actions and offer all you do for the intentions of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in making known His desire for this devotion of Reparation to His Holy Face. |
| 8. | Secure for your home a picture of the Holy Face, preferably a facsimile of St. Veronica's Veil. Keep a light burning before it and if possible unite there daily to say your family or personal prayers. |
| 9. | In reparation for the desecration of altars and churches, deny yourself some pleasure or luxury at least once a month, preferably on Sundays, and devote the amount sacrificed to the upkeep or adornment of an altar or church. |
| 10. | Sanctify the special feast days of the Confraternity by special acts of reparation, Holy Communion and a visit to the Holy Face of Our Divine Lord in a church. |
| 11. | Have your name inscribed on the Confraternity Register. The Associates will endeavor to be faithful to these pious practices, although these engagements are not binding under pain of sin. |
| It is interesting to note that at the time of these revelations of Our Lord to Sister Mary of St. Peter, He lumped all the evils of which He was speaking under the general heading of COMMUNISM. The year of the beginning of these communications - 1843 - was five years before the Communist Manifesto (1848). Our Lord specifically stated that the evils that were to bring down the wrath of God upon the world were the continued violation of the first THREE COMMANDMENTS. He said that since the sins were PUBLIC the reparation had to be PUBLIC and that since the enemy had banded together in a secret society, His defenders should likewise band together. As Sister Mary of St. Peter helped by her prayers and sacrifices to erect a mystical wall to protect her beloved France from the darts of Divine Justice, let us too erect a mystical wall which will reach to Heaven to protect the Church and our nation from the just wrath of God. Such a wall to be erected by means of the tools and mortar provided for us by Our Lord Himself-devotion to His Most Holy Face. |
