The Madame X
from the vise of Jack "The Ole Man" Edwards ©1999 --^{}^--
The Madame X was designed by Doug Swisher for fishing Montana's Bitteroot River. It has become one of the hot, new searching patterns for the Rockies and elsewhere. For trout, fish dead drift or just below the surface, especially during Hopper season. Bluegill love these too, fished on the surface or sub-surface. For sub-surface, loop on a mini lead-head to floating line, loop leader to the lead-head, tie on fly. Cast and let sink. Short strip, pause and twitch back. Strikes are often violent. I have caught some large bull bluegill on these. To soup them up for Bluegill, Take a Marks-a-Lot and mark the rubber legs with small black bars to give a speckled effect.
