Neal's Flashback Brown Nymph

from the vise of Neal Gilchrist

This is a pattern I developed on my own. It's based pretty much on the standard nymph pattern, #14 size. The dubbing was selected because of slight olive tint to the yarn. I choose not to weight these flies, although for personal use I would have used lead wire around the shank of the hook. If you want to fish it weighted, you will have to use split shot or similar. I fish it as a dropper under an Elk Hair Caddis or Lime Trude.

Hook:        #14 Mustad 3906B

Tail:             Wood Duck dyed Mallard flank

Body:        Brown (with olive tint) acrylic yarn (Walmart)

Flash:        Iridescent mylar tinsel (Walmart Christmas surplus)
