Archibald played forward at the University of North Dakota and is a member of the school's hall of fame. At UND he was a four-year letter winner from 1982-85. In 154 games he tallied 75 goals and 69 assists for 144 points, 26th all time in school history. He is the all-time leader in career penalties (247) and career penalty minutes (540). His 12 career game-winning goals are tied for third all time at UND. Archibald's four seasons at UND, the Fighting Sioux went 111-53-6 overall and 70-38-5 in WCHA games. During his freshman season of 1981-82, UND went 35-12-0 - including a WCHA-best 19-7-0 record - and captured the WCHA title and the school's fourth national title. UND beat Wisconsin 5-2 in the NCAA title game in Providence, R.I. Archibald tallied 10-16-26 as a freshman and led the team with 96 PIM. As a sophomore, Archibald scored 7-14-21 in 33 games with 91 PIM as the Fighting Sioux went 21-13-2 overall and 16-9-2 (2nd place) in the WCHA. As a junior Archibald helped lead the Fighting Sioux to another second-place NCAA finish and a berth in the national semi-final. He scored 21-15-36 in 44 games and led the team with 156 PIM. Archibald truly broke through in his senior season, during which he served as co-captain. He led the team in goals (37), assists (24), points (61), power play goals (15) and PIM (197). UND went 24-16-2 overall and 19-14-2 in the WCHA, good for a fourth-place conference finish. His 37 goals that season still rank eighth-best on UND's single season charts and his 15 PPG are tied for fourth.

He was named UND's Male Athlete of the Year and the hockey team's Most Valuable Player and was named to the All-WCHA team.

He was a seventh-round pick by the Minnesota North Stars in 1981 and played parts of three seasons for the team.

Jim Ernster graduated in 1991 from BHS where he played football, hockey and baseball. He graduated from St. Thomas University in St. Paul where he played hockey for three seasons and obtained his masters degree from the University of Portland. He also went on to play in the USHL with the Northern Iowa Huskies for two years.

Jim was the Warriors girls hockey assistant coach for three years from 1999– 2002, he then succeeded Chuck Whalen, who resigned. In five seasons as head coach, Ernster's teams compiled a 62-58-7 overall record. Brainerd finished 14-12-0 his last season. In 2006 Jim resigned as the Girls coach.

In 2006 he became an assistant for boys hockey.

Steve Ebinger

College: St John’s University

Steve graduated in 1984 from BHS where he played football, hockey and baseball. He was all conference in all 3 sports his Senior year. Steve participated in the very first Maroon and Gold All Star game for hockey his Senior year.

Steve went on after high school and played with the Austin Mavericks that won the Anderson Cup (regular season champion) in the USHL in 1984-85.  We also competed in the National Junior tournament that year.

He then went on to graduate from St. John’s University in St. Cloud where he played hockey and baseball all 4 years from 1985-1989.  As a Senior he was the Team captain for the Baseball team.

Steve has been active in BAHA for a long period of time. He has coached various teems in the youth association here in Brainerd. He has helped the Girls Hockey teams, assisted with Goalie development at various summer camps in the area as well.
