The Bateau V10 "Lillian" Test Run Before Paint
The V10 rides very high in the water and looks great. Rows great. The oars I designed and built worked great too. They are 7 footers and I wouldn't want them any shorter. (Those oar plans are posted at Bateau in the free plans area.)The shots here are only of me in the boat and it really scoots with just one person in it. We did go out a lot with 2 adults and my 13 year old son and the boat did just fine...plenty of freeboard, and stable - we actually all three switched places a couple of times and it was no problem at all - you can't do that in a canoe!
Water did come up to within 2 inches of the top of the daggerboard slot...we did get a few wet spots on our rear ends when rowing from this a couple of times so I made a slot plug of a piece of 1/4" ply on a 3/4 x 12" piece - epoxied and coated - to keep the water off your bum.
