Jan 29, 1974 For the first time ever Marquette played a basketball game where both teams were ranked in the top five. The #5 Warriors lost to #3 Notre Dame 69-63 in South Bend.

Jan 30, 1982 Marquette sets a school shooting record. The Warriors hit 29 of 43 shots for a .674 percentage. They beat Notre Dame 70-62 at South Bend.

Jan 31, 1953 River Falls State College basketball player Roger Kuss scored 50 pts. in a 98-92 win over Eau Claire State. He is the only state college player to score 50. Stan Du Frane led Eau Claire with 38. Kuss hit 16 FGs and 18 FTs. He would top this mark twice within four weeks.

Feb 1, 1950  31 years after he founded the team, Curly Lambeau resigned as the Packers head coach. He's still the winningest coach in team history with a 29-year mark of 212-106-21.

Feb 2, 1976  The Wisconsin men’s basketball team gave up back-to-bak 100+ games for the last time. After losing to #1 Indiana 114-61 on January 31, the Badgers lost to #16 Michigan 107-86.

Feb 3, 1996  Wisconsin Badger hockey players Max Williams, Troy Howard and Rick Enrico scored goals within 27 seconds of each other to set a UW record for fastest three goals. Williams scored at 7:33, Howard at 7:43 and Enrico at 8:00 of the third period. The Badgers needed the goals in a 5-3 win over Minnesota-Duluth. The old mark was 31 seconds set in 1982.

Feb 4, 1959  Vince Lombardi was named the fifth head coach of the Green Bay Packers. He had been an assistant with the New York Giants.
