Here's the history about the show, and our pledge to you, our fellow racers and race fans:

2008 marks the 24th consecutive season of THE RACING ROUND UP SHOW, the longest running motorsports radio show to be held in front of a live audience in all of America!

Veteran motorsports broadcaster Jim Tretow hosts THE RACING ROUND UP SHOW, a weekly 90-minute motorsports radio program aired on ESPN Radio 1510 WAUK - AM, in the Milwaukee, WI market.

THE RACING ROUND UP SHOW has been carried all 24 years on ESPN Radio 1510 WAUK-AM.

It all started when Terry Jeffords and Dennis Czarnyszka got to talking about combining their interests in a casual conversation in 1985. Jeffords had just left WLPX-FM, which had undergone a format change, and Czarnyszka was an avid race fan who thought it'd be fun to do a racing radio show. Czarnyszka's boss at his real job was Darold Dobs, who had experience in calling Badger Midgets and other races on public address. Dobs served as host and co-host until 1990, when his full-time commitment as Executive Director of the American Bowling Congress took precedence.

Jim Tretow, the show's current host, had started participating on the program as a Badger Kart Club reporter and live commercial script reader. With the departure of Todd Behling as co-host in 1988, Tretow was groomed to co-host with Dobs, and has been in the primary chair since 1991.

Jeffords was a very close personal friend of Alan Kulwicki, and sponsored his formative late model racing career with radio station 97 WLPX. It was a sad, yet defining program that immediately followed Kulwicki's death on April 1, 1993. The Monday following, Dobs wrote and Czarnyszka and Tretow orchestrated a powerful tribute broadcast, which was a defining moment for THE RACING ROUND UP SHOW. Local television stations, Alan's close friends and a standing room only gathering of mourning race fans all shared in a special tribute broadcast.

The reaction and participation of that single broadcast proved to Jeffords, Dobs, and the hundreds of audience members that the program is part of the fabric of motorsports in the Milwaukee area. It continues to be a gathering place for race fans, for support and the latest information in the world of motorsports.

They are grateful for the continuance of long-standing relationships with advertisers and supporters, and are excited to have new and diverse businesses, race tracks and individuals involved with THE RACING ROUND UP SHOW!

THE RACING ROUND UP SHOW has been and will continue to be a mixture of concise race reports, topical and timely news, and guest interviews with an emphasis on the local racers and race tracks. Thousands of racers of all ages and stature have appeared on the program, from 9 year-old junior dragster drivers to Rusty Wallace.

Drivers and teams continue to display their race cars at the show. For the three years the show originated from The Springdale Inn in Waukesha, cars were rolled right in front of the stage within the large banquet hall for indoor display!

Race fans are encouraged to attend and participate in each broadcast.

The goal remains unchanged: produce quality, entertaining motorsports coverage. Give the local racers their time to shine, deliver the facts and have some fun!

An average of 100 race fans a week gather to do a little "bench racing" and get the latest information first hand from the fast-paced, all encompassing show. As Tretow states, "If it has a motor and a number on the side, we'll talk about it!"

Unique in its' format, the program continues to proudly promote local racers and area race tracks, and also provides credible, detailed coverage of NASCAR, CART, IRL, ASA, NHRA, IHRA, AMA and numerous other national touring series.

Weekly guests include drivers and experts within these national series, with a heavy emphasis toward local racer participation, including a display of race cars in the parking area adjacent to the studio entrance. For race fans in southeastern Wisconsin, THE RACING ROUND UP SHOW has become a destination and a gathering place for proven, comprehensive coverage of all types of motorsports.

Whether you listen on the radio or join us in person, you won't want to miss the action!
