The true spirit of an alumnus is exemplified when an individual remembers the role education has played in his/her success, acknowledges an obligation to encourage others in their pursuit of an education, and takes action to uplift his/her alma mater. On September 27, 1997 the Atlanta Downtown Chapter was chartered by 50 members who remembered, recognized, and took action to become supporters of SSU. The mission of the Atlanta Downtown Chapter of the Savannah State University National Alumni Association is to enhance the image of the institution while broadening the scope and purpose of the alumni association and its connection with the university. We will uphold the mission and fulfill this commitment through financial assistance, pre-college mentoring, student recruitement, student retention, and recent alumni development within the Atlanta area and the southern region.
