About the instructor...
 

Ken StancerKen began teaching at Eagle School in the Fall of 2006.  In addition to teaching at Eagle, he holds a position teaching K-5 elementary music in the Madison Metropolitan Schools, currently at Van Hise Elementary.  Ken has taught music for over 20 years in Wisconsin schools; mostly at the elementary level.  He holds a Bachelor of Music Education degree from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and a Master of Music Education degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.  His graduate project focused on the classical music of living and 20th century American composers.  Ken also has a strong interest in environmental issues and infuses songs and activities into the music curricula which aim to inspire sensitivity towards the natural world. Ken is a member of the Music Educators National Conference and  Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia music fraternity.

In addition to teaching at Eagle and VanHise, Ken holds the position of Organist and Music Director at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Madison where he plays the 21 rank Taylor and Boody pipe organ, directs the chancel and children’s choir and administers all aspects of the music ministry.  He is a member of the American Guild of Organists. His personal interests including gardening, cooking, painting and home improvement projects.
