The Pickens County Communications Group

The Pickens County Communications Group are volunteers for the Pickens County Emergency Management Agency in Pickens, S.C. and members of R.A.C.E.S.-Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service, with the South Carolina State Guard. We are not a club. We are a group of amateurs radio enthusiasts with similar interests, dedicated in providing emergency communications for public service, public safety, and commercial communications for local agencies. We also provide Skywarn communications for Pickens County and the National Weather Service in Greer, S.C. We have a “group-refurbished” mobile command trailer that is capable of the following communications equipment: 160 –10 meters all mode, also Navy Mars Station, 6 meter fm VHF Lowband (50 Mhz), 2 meter fm VHF Highband(144 Mhz), 1 1/4 meter fm VHF Highband(220 Mhz), 70cm fm UHF(440 Mhz) and ATV – Amateur Television 430 Mhz UHF. Digital modes as follows: APRS, Packet, RTTY, with a notebook computer with internet access. We have a 20 foot trailer equipped with a 50 foot crank up tower and onboard generator. Other interests include: ARRL Field Day, Mini Field Day, Backpack/Portable Communications and VHF/UHF Contesting.

WX4PG MEETINGS

The Pickens County Communications Group Meets at the Pickens County Management Agency (EOC) 1509 Walhalla Highway Pickens, S.C.on the 1st Tuesday of every month at 7:00pm. We also meet at Golden Corral in Easley, S.C. every 4th Saturday of every month at 8:00am for Breakfast. The Pickens County Communications Group has a net each Thursday nights at 7:30pm on 442.400 Mhz repeater. Any amateur is invited to check in. Skywarn net is activated in case of servere WX in Pickens County.
