Richard's ST2 pages - seat

I had my seat re-done by Sargent. There are several pics here from different angles to give a good indication of the mods. Sargent now have a standard ST2 seat, the World Sport that was not available when I had mne done. I have heard this is a good seat but have no experience with it. They will still do custom seats if you want something different, or want to use your own seat base.I asked for reworked foam that was firmer and sculpted to help prevent rider and passenger from sliding forward. I also asked for a more pronounced stop in the middle of the seat and a thicker and wider passenger seat. The foam work cost $279 which would include a new vinyl cover but I paid an extra $140 to get leather seating surfaces. All of this is done on your stock seat pan so you are guaranteed it will fit as well as the stock seat. That is also slight a disadvantage in that you will not have a seat for a few weeks while they are working on it. I managed to borrow a seat from a friend that bought a Corbin replacement so was able to keep riding while the seat was in work.

I am very pleased with the results and would say this is a major comfort improvement over stock. The stock foam seemed too soft and the firmer foam from Sargent is much more comfortable. The only drawback thus far is that the leather is slippery compared to the stock vinyl. I have addressed this by using a product called Sadl-Tite from Sekur-Grip that is meant for horse saddles. It's not cheap at 14.95 for a small stick but a little bit goes a long way.

My wife and I took a two-up vacation recently and put in a couple of 500 mile days and a 1600 mile week and found the saddle quite comfortable. The foam is holding up real well and the leather is breaking in and getting a bit softer.
