EGO is a software program that plays Go with a strength around 12 kyu. You can choose from a selection of artificial opponents with differing personalities.
Either side can take a handicap; you can play, unplay, and replay moves; choose between 19x19 or 9x9 boards; check on the safety/health status of your groups; see sector lines; recieve hints as to where to play next; watch your margin over your opponent (or vice versa) and monitor prisoner counts.

The software is suitable for all Windows machines and WINE under Linux.

The Personalities:

• Earthy - prefers territory from the start
• Airy - prefers influence positions
• Fiery - prefers attack even though defense is called for
• Watery - prefers defense and slow buildup
• Leaper - prefers to play elsewhere whenever he can
• Samurai - balances all characteristics
• Psycho - plays unusual opening (Great Wall)
• Pirate - prefers to steal your territory and influence
• Schizo - changes to one of the styles above periodically during a game
