About Numbers, 2005

Within NEDIV, there are (at least) 6 sets of preferred numbers: The NEDIV list, the NARRC list,,the MARRS list, the NYSRRC list, the Kryder Cup list, and the (HRG) Historic Racing Group list. If a race happens to be part of more then one series (MARRS and NARRC, for example) then it is up to the registrar for that race to determine how preferred numbers will be dealt with.

In most cases, preferred numbers are meaningless after the late entry deadline for an event.  That is, if someone askes for your number and you don't register by the late entry deadline then they may be given your preferred number.  When you show up to register, you will be given another number.  This will happen in Showroom/Spec Miata, as all numbers are listed as preferred.

For NEDIV and NARRC Numbers:

This is for the PREFERRED number lists, there is no such thing as a RESERVED number. The contact for both of these lists is Marianne Lyons. You may phone her (+1.978.433.5087) between 7 PM and 9 PM ONLY. E-mail should be sent to nediv.points@charter.net. The snail mail address is

88 Harbor St.,
Pepperell, MA 01463.

Both of the these number lists are UNOFFICIAL. There are no rules that cover how registrars treat the number list or if they even have to use the list. If the registrar for a race chooses to not assign you a number you think you have reserved, that is their choice.

After last year, and getting some input from a few drivers, we have changed the guidelines. Here are the new guidelines for 2006.

  1. Number requests must be sent between November 1st and the Ides of March
  2. The Pointskeeper will assign numbers as she sees fit.
    1. This includes telling you that even if we gave you a number, you don't have it now.
  3. Requests are either processed or held until January 1st according to the following rules:
    1. Requests for the same number and group as held the previous year will be processed in the order they arrive.
    2. Requests where there is no conflict with a preferred number from the previous year will be processed in the order they arrive.
    3. Requests for numbers that were requested the previous year by someone else will not be processed until AFTER January 1st
    4. If groupings are changed and there is a conflict between two drivers who had the number in different groups the previous year, then the first to request the number this year will get it.
  4. Requests MUST include the following:
    1. Name
    2. E-mail address or Phone Number
    3. Series (NEDIV Nationals, NERRC/NARRC, or BOTH)
    4. The Car Class (You have no idea how many people forget to tell us this)
    5. Three choices (unless you are renewing a prefered number from the previous year)
  5. We will send e-mail if we have a working address. Do not give an e-mail addresses where we have to go sign up some place just to send you a reply.
  6. The person maintaining the list has the right to refuse any preferred number request. No reason need be given.
  7. Numbers are not automatically renewed from year to year.  You have to request renewal every year.
That is it. Real simple.
