Ms. Sweety had a slow night....must have been the hot weather! She started the evening quickly by moving in Martin "Ole #1" Hellberg's direction in Game 1 against Jeremy "The Cat" Morris. Ms. Sweety enjoyed Martin's company until Game 7 when she headed John "Saweet" Hensley's direction. It didn't take J.R. "The Spoiler" Cast long to live up to his nickname....he swiped Ms. Sweety from John in Game 8 and held on tight! For his skill cards J.R. took home $18 at the end of the evening.
EVENT HAPPENINGS
First was
Carl "The Wizard" Schaefer who turned in a 15 Gm Pt, 7 W, +58 Sprd Pts card.
Carl started the night luke warm but was on fire by the end of the night.
He won the first game out of the box and then was cooled off by Dick "The
Grumbler" Taylor in Game 2. This was when Carl went on a 5 game winning
streak beating his opponents by an average of 14 points each. Shirley
"Buzz Saw" Guest put and end to his winning streak with a skunk in Game 7.
Carl then finished the night strong with two wins including a last game skunk.
Good job Carl!
Second was John "Rotten" Reed who turned in a 14 Gm Pt, 7 W, +62 Sprd Pts card. John was up and down in the first 4 games. He was sitting at 2 wins and 2 losses going into the 5th game. John showed that he could play with the best of them by winning 5 straight to end the night with a 14 point card. Good job John....thanks for stepping up into the director's position!
Third was "Trooper" Tom Varnell who turned in a 14 Gm Pt, 7 W, +56 Sprd Pts card. Tom gave John a run for second place but came up a few spread points short! Tom started with a loss on the year but quickly turned things around by winning 4 straight games. Wayne "Super Trooper" Von Clasen gave Tom a speeding ticket in Game 5 to hand Tom his second loss of the night. Tom didn't look back because he won the last 3 games of the night to take 3rd Place. Good job Tom!
Fourth was J.R. "The Spoiler" Cast who turned in a 11 Gm Pt, 5 W, +90 Sprd Pts card. J.R. lost a few close games tonight but made it through for 4th place. J.R. averaged a 25 point spread in his 5 wins including a skunk in game 4...3 of his 4 losses were by 5 points or less! Good job J.R.!
Fifth was Pat "Driller" Jungmann who turned in a 11 Gm Pt, 5 W, +35 Sprd Pts card. Pat had to settle for never winning more than two games in a row....on the up side he never lost two games in a row. He won Games 1 and 2 to start the evening and lost Games 3 and 4. He started an upswing by winning Games 5 and 6 with a skunk in Game 6. He then stalled again for a 2 game losing streak in Games 7 and 8. Pat was probably thinking he was out of the money by that point but won the last game and edged out John "Saweet" Hensley for 5th Place. Good job Pat!
