Ms. Sweety thought with 12 players she would have a slow night....wrong....she jumped around six times tonight. She started the evening by heading to David "Da Boz" Bosley in Game 2. Wayne "Super Trooper" Von Clasen stole Ms. Sweety for a short while during Game 3 only to have it taken by Shirley "Buzz Saw" Guest later in Game 3. Dick "The Grumbler" Taylor counted a 24 in Game 6 which helped him secure his only win of the night. Dick's glory was short lived, "Bad" Betty Morehouse didn't show any signs of remorse for the night that Dick was having when she took Ms. Sweety from him in Game 7. What goes around comes around....Helen "The Hellion" Daniels scored a 24 in Game 8 and held onto her for the rest of the night. She took home $12 for her skill cards!
EVENT HAPPENINGS
First was
"Easy" Ed Baustian who turned in a 16 Gm Pt, 7 W, +106 Sprd Pts card
tonight. Ed started off with three wins in a row including a skunk in Game
2 over "Trooper" Tom Varnell. Pat "Driller" Jungmann showed
Ed how to put a zero in the game point column by handing Ed his first loss of
the night. Ed turned things around and nearly skunked Dick "The
Grumbler" Taylor in Game 5. He went into the next game with high hopes
against Dewayne "Big E" Eisenbarth who showed Ed how to put a star on his
card. Ed went on to win the last three games of the night including a last
game skunk against Wayne "Super Trooper" Von Clasen. With his last
win Ed completed his triumph over the troopers in the club....sorry Ed, no bonus
points are awarded for beating Wayne and Tom! Maybe we should have a
specialty pool for that??? Good job Ed!
Second was "Bad" Betty Morehouse who turned in a 14 Gm Pt, 7 W, +41 Sprd Pts card. Betty got things started by a 2 point win in her opening match of the night against "Trooper" Tom Varnell. She followed that win up with another win in Game 2. That's when the Cribbage Gods had other plans, she lost the next 2 games in a row. Betty was able to convince the Cribbage Gods to go pick on Dick "The Grumbler" Taylor (see Honorable Mention below) for the rest of the night while she put together a respectable 5 game win streak to walk into 2nd Place. Good job Betty!
Third was Zeke "Da Zapa" Blocklinger
who
turned in a 13 Gm Pt, 6 W, +66 Sprd Pts
card. Zeke began the night by playing Helen, Shirley, and Martin....talk
about a tough crowd! He was able to get out of those games with 2 wins and
1 loss. He went on to win 2 out of the next 3 games including a skunk in
Game 6 against Wayne "Super Trooper" Von Clasen. He came up against
"Bad" Betty Morehouse in Game 7. Betty had 8 game points, Zeke had
9. It was a close match with Betty pulling out the win by 3 points in the
end! Zeke won the last 2 games of the night by an average of 15 points.
Good job Zeke, it was good to see you back in action!
HONORABLE MENTION
Dick "The Grumbler" Taylor showed up tonight to try to win top prize.....little did he know that he would have to fight to win one game. He started off pretty rough by losing the first three games including two skunks. He got his only win against club champion David "Da Boz" Bosley in a close Game 6 and it took a 24 for Dick to win by 5 points. The grass was greener on the other side of the fence tonight for Dick....chances are he will improve his card next time he plays!
