Ms. Sweety had an average night, moving only 5 times.  She started the evening by getting to know John "Saweet" Hensley in Game 3, unfortunately she was not a good luck charm as John lost the game.  Ms. Sweety decided to visit "Bad" Betty Morehouse in Game 4 who beat her opponent by exactly 24 points!  Wayne "Super Trooper" Von Clasen discarded a 24 to his crib in Game 5 against Dewayne "Big E" Eisenbarth.  Dewayne had the last laugh as he declared 24 in the next game and Ms. Sweety helped him beat Helen "The Hellion" Daniels.  Dewayne's glory didn't last long, Chris Thoreson (Guest) held onto a 24 in Game 7, it helped him skunk Helen.  Chris held onto Ms. Sweety for the rest of the night and took home $16 for his efforts.

EVENT HAPPENINGS

            First
was David "Da Boz" Bosley who turned in a 17 Gm Pt, 8 W, +98 Sprd Pts card tonight.  David was on fire tonight losing only Game 8 to Dick "The Grumbler" Taylor who played the role of "Spoiler" tonight.  Although several of the games were not close, 4 of David's wins came by less than 10 points.  He skunked his last opponent of the night....John "Saweet" Hensley.  Good job David, keep up the good peggin'!

Second was Chris Thoreson (Guest) who turned in a 16 Gm Pt, 6 W, +67 Sprd Pts card.  Yes, that was a 16 point 6 win card.  Mr. Thoreson skunked John "Saweet" Hensley in Game 1.  He had to wait a few games until his second skunk in Game 5 against "Devil" Dean Van Donge.  He followed that up with skunks in Game 6 & 7 against Wayne "Super Trooper" Von Clasen and Helen "The Hellion" Daniels.  Chris finished the night with a narrow victory over over Jim "Teacher" Duff by 2 points to finish with a 16 point card....not bad for a guest.  Good job Chris!

Third was Dewayne "Big E" Eisenbarth who turned in a 14 Gm Pt, 6 W, +123 Sprd Pts card.  Dewayne turned in a 14 point card that would have been in the top two spots most other nights....  He got off to a rocky start by losing his first two games of the night and turned around and beat his next two opponents by 29 & 30 points.  He then lost a close Game 5 but put together a 4 game win streak to finish the night.  Dewayne skunked 2 of the last 4 opponents of the night to make up for his early losses.  Good job Dewayne!

Fourth was Pat "Driller" Jungmann who turned in a 12 Gm Pt, 6 W, +39 Sprd Pts card.  Pat has been on a roll lately, he has placed in the payout positions all three weeks in December.  Pat got off to a rocky start also but finished strong.  He won the opening game of the night only to lose the next two games including a close 2nd Game against Chris Thoreson (Guest).  He got things back on the right track by winning Game 4 but turned around and got skunked in Game 5 by Helen "The Hellion" Daniels.  He finished strong by winning the last 4 games of the night by an average margin of 15 points.  Good job Pat!

HONORABLE MENTION

Dick “The Grumbler” Taylor and Wayne "Super Trooper" Von Clasen both recorded 12 point cards and received Grass Root Points for their efforts.  They came up a few spread points short of placing in the top 4 positions tonight.

PLAYING TIPS FROM GEORGE RASMUSSEN

Another way you can put pressure on dealer is to plan to close the count at 31-2. There are a number of hands which allow you to plan this strategy. If you pick up your cards and retain 3-3-5-J, lead the 3. Hope dealer makes the count 13 with a Jack. If so pair the Jack for 23 at which time dealer will likely play a five for 28, close the count with the play of the trey. Remember you still have the five and the dealer's likely lead after showing you the Jack and a five is to play another X-pointer. Now if the dealer doesn't have the Jack and puts any other X-pointer on your trey lead, you drop the other trey for a count of sixteen. Dealer cannot play the five on the trey and will make the count 26 since he is holding a five. You slip that five in and close the count at 31-2. As non-dealer be looking for 3-card eleven combinations. They often will work to close the count and take a dealer advantage away in the pegging game. As we move through this pegging section, will spend some additional time on "elevens from heaven" or "magic elevens" as you prefer.
