Ms. Sweety must have been under the weather….she moved only one time and that was during Game 3 when she paid Wayne “Super Trooper” Von Clasen a visit and helped him skunk Helen “The Hellion” Daniels.  Wayne must have pulled out a pair of hand cuffs from his pre-retirement days and made sure she didn’t stray to someone else, he held onto her for the entire night!  Wayne received $10 at the end of the night for his skill cards!

EVENT HAPPENINGS

            First
was Jim “Teacher” Duff who turned in a 15 Gm Pt, 7 W, +40 Sprd Pts card
tonight. Jim got off to a quick start by winning the first game by 3 points over “Easy” Ed Baustian.  He followed that up with a win but then was skunked in Game 3 by Shirley “Buzz Saw” Guest.  Jim turned things around with a narrow victory in Game 4 then a skunk over David “Da Boz” Bosley in Game 5.  Sitting at 9 points after 5 games, Jim started to feel confident….but the cribbage gods delivered a humble blow when he was skunked in Game 6 by “Trooper” Tom Varnell.  Bouncing back, Jim won 3 straight to end the night and secure 1st Place.  Good job Jim!

Second was John “Rotten” Reed who turned in a 13 Gm Pt, 6 W, +41 Sprd Pts card.  This is John’s second straight 2nd Place which vaulted John in to 2nd Place in the points standing…..OK enough with the 2nds….  John won his first game of the night but couldn’t put together a win streak because he was almost skunked by Jim “Teacher” Duff in Game 2.  John edged out “Bad” Betty Morehouse by 1 point in Game 3 and went on to win 4 straight.  Martin “Ole #1” Hellberg ended John’s win streak in Game 7.  He got things back on track by winning Game 8 but followed that up with a last game loss.  None the less, 13 points was enough for 2nd and helped John slide into 2nd Place overall.  Good job John!

Third was “Trooper” Tom Varnell who turned in a 11 Gm Pt, 5 W, +18 Sprd Pts card.  Tom got off to a hot start by winning two straight but then faultered for the next two games and recorded 2 losses.    He put together a respectable 3 game win streak with a skunk over Jim “Teacher” Duff in Game 6.  Tom tried finish strong but the cards were stacked against him and he lost the last 2 games of the night.  Good job Tom!

Fourth was John “Saweet” Hensley who turned in a 11 Gm Pt, 5 W, 9 Sprd Pts card.  John started off with a couple of wins including a skunk over Helen “The Hellion” Daniels in Game 2.  Unfortunately, David “Da Boz” Bosley skunked John in Game 3 to end John’s win streak.  John put together two straight wins including a near skunk over “Trooper” Tom Varnell in Game 4.  John fell on hard times in Games 6, 7, & 8 and couldn’t record a win.  He did finish strong and won the last game of the night.  Good job John!
