”Big” Willie Evans puts on a show on his way to an 18 point card.
"Bad" Betty Morehouse and John "Saweet" Hensley boxed it
out 2nd and 3rd place. Brad "Young Taylor" Taylor dusted off
the cribbage portion of his brain to slip into 4th Place and keep the Taylor
win streak alive (3 weeks).

Ms. Sweety
was stuck in glue to start the night, once she warmed up she jumped around a
bit in the last game. She started the night by finding "Big"
Willie Evans in the first game of the night and helped Willie skunk his
opponent. She waited until the third game to migrate to Wayne
"Super Trooper" Von Clasen and helped him edge out John
"Saweet" Hensley. Ms. Sweety liked Wayne's company until
the last game of the night when she jumped over to John "Rotten"
Reed but didn't help him beat "Trooper" Tom Varnell.
She didn't stick with John too long before heading to Helen "The
Hellion" Daniels and helped Helen secure a win over Martin
"Ole #1" Hellberg. For her efforts, Helen received
$16 at the end of the night.
EVENT HAPPENINGS
First was “Big" Willie Evans who
turned in a 18 Gm Pt, 8 W, +119 Sprd Pts card tonight. Willie got off to a
fast start and didn't look back. He won
5 straight to start including an opening game skunk over Wayne "Super
Trooper" Von Clasen. His only
loss came at the hand of "Easy" Ed Baustian in Game 6. Willie quickly got back into the groove of
things by winning the last three games.
He ended the evening the same way that he started the evening....with a
skunk over "Bad" Betty Morehouse. Good job Willie, keep up the good peggin’!
Second was "Bad"
Betty Morehouse who turned in a 14 Gm Pt, 7 W, -08 Sprd Pts card. Yes
that is correct, 7 wins with a -08 spread??? You didn't want to start the
night by playing Betty. She recorded 7 straight wins over some tough
opponents including David "Da Boz" Bosley, Jim
"Teacher" Duff, and Martin "Ole #1" Hellberg....the list
goes on. The cribbage gods decided to humble Betty at the end of the
night by dealing her 2 straight losses. The last loss came at the hand of
"Big" Willie Evans by 50 points. None the less, Betty
finished with a 14 point, 7 win card for 2nd Place. Good job Betty!
Third was John
"Saweet" Hensley who turned in a 14 Gm Pt, 6 W, +132 Sprd Pts
card. John started out on shaky ground
but turned things around and almost took 2nd Place. He started out with a win in Game 1 but quickly faltered in Games
2 & 3. He took matters into his own
hands and won a close Game 4 only to turn around and lose Game 5. He pulled up his boot straps and put the
hammer down by winning 4 straight to end the night. He even skunked his last two opponents by 51 and 49 points. Good
job John!
Fourth was Brad "Young Taylor" Taylor who turned in a 12 Gm Pt,
6 W, +132 Sprd Pts card. Brad had an up
and down night but proved that you need to win the close games in order to have
a chance at the money. Brad started off
in the wrong column with an opening game loss.
He squeaked out a 2 point win over John "Saweet" Hensley in
Game 2 followed by another close victory in Game 3. Brad went on a mini roller coaster ride with a Game 4 loss, Game
5 win, and a Game 6 loss. Not being one
to stay down, Brad put together a respectable 3 game win streak to finish the
night. Good job Brad, it is nice to see
you from time to time....next time!

Well, the
cribbage gods were not helping our players in Reno. It seems like
everyone came a bit short. In the JWP Open, Jim "Teacher"
Duff had a 30 game point, 15 W, +97 Spread card and qualified in
108th place out of 964 players and took home $60. He then made it to the
3rd play off round before getting bumped. He finished in 33rd in
the JWP and received $240 for his efforts. Jim played in 64 games over
the weekend! Be sure to congratulate
him for representing our club!
Also, be sure to wish Jim good luck while he recovers from a recent knee
injury. We will keep you in the loop if he has surgery for repair or replacement.
