Ms. Sweet has been taking it easy lately, last week she only had one move….this week she moved twice.  She waited until Game 4 to visit J.R. “Spoiler” Cast but it must have been a really bad game because he lost by 36 points!  Ms. Sweety kept J.R. company until Game 8 when she decided to pay Shirley “Buzz Saw” Guest a visit and helped her squeak out the win over Zeke “Da Zapa” Blocklinger by 3 points!  Shirley went home with $12 at the end of the night for her efforts!

EVENT HAPPENINGS

            First
was Shirley “Buzz Saw” Guest who turned in a 17 Gm Pt, 8 W, +59 Sprd Pts card
tonight.  Shirley started the night with a win in Game 1 and followed that up with a skunk in Game 2.  Sitting at 5 points after 2 games, the cribbage gods decided to deal her a humbling blow when “Bad” Betty Morehouse skunked her in Game 3.  She bounced back and won 6 straight to finish the night including winning 3 games by less 1, 2, & 3 points respectively.  Goes to show you the every point counts!  Good job Shirley!

Second was Martin “Ole #1” Hellberg who turned in a 14 Gm Pt, 7 W, +68 Sprd Pts card.  Martin out pegged his first 4 opponents of the night.  Feeling good he came up against Zeke “Da Zapa” Blocklinger who nearly skunked Martin.  To follow, Martin had a tough game against “Bad” Betty Morehouse and lost his 2nd game of the night.  He got things back on the right track with 3 straight wins to finish the evening.  Good job Martin!

Third was Pat “Driller” Jungmann who turned in a 12 Gm Pt, 6 W, +6 Sprd Pts card.  Pat started off better than Shirley and Martin but didn’t finish as strong.  Pat won his first 5 games including a 1 point victory over “Bad” Betty Morehouse in the 2nd Game.  Pat followed up that win with a 2 point win over Helen “The Hellion” Daniels in Game 3.  Coming down the stretch Pat won 1 of 4 to finish the night but it was enough to slip into 3rd Place.  Good job Pat!

SOLUTIONS

1a. Play the 8. Your only fear is that opponent's last card is a 4.

1b. Play the 4. You mustn't let opponent peg if his or her remaining card is an A. If it's anything else, the game is over no matter what you do.

1c. Play the 8, fearing that opponent's last card is a 5. This is your only fear.

2a. Play the A, fearing opponent's 10.

2b. Play the 10, fearing opponent has a 4.

2c. Play the A, fearing opponent's J.
