Pat “Driller” Jungmann jumped out to a quick lead and didn’t look back. Martin “Ole #1” gave Pat a run for his money
but came up a little short and finished in 2nd. John “Saweet” Hensley and “Easy” Ed Baustian
fought it out for 3rd and 4th with John edging Ed out by
a few spread points.

Ms. Sweety
first visited Jim “Teacher” Duff in Game 2 but wasn’t a good luck charm
and he ended up being beat by 3 points.
She paid a visit to Helen “The Hellion” Daniels in Game 3 and but
didn’t help her either against….Jim nearly skunked her. Ms. Sweety must have liked Helen’s company
because Helen was also the next 24 in Game 5 and helped her nearly skunk “Easy”
Ed Baustian. “Trooper” Tom
Varnell counted a 24 in Game 7 and beat “Lethal” Lisa Duff by
24. Last but not least, Dick “The
Grumbler” Taylor declared 24 in Game 8 on his way to a victory over Martin
“Ole #1” Hellberg. Dick walked away with $14 at the end of the night.
EVENT HAPPENINGS
First was Pat "Driller" Jungmann who turned
in a 14 Gm Pt, 6 W, +91 Sprd Pts card tonight. Pat started off on the
wrong foot with a first game loss but turned things around in order to beat
Jim "Teacher" Duff by 3 points in the second game. He completed the
Duff mini-slam by skunking "Lethal" Lisa Duff the very next game.
He couldn't keep his win streak alive and dropped the fourth game. Sitting
at 5 game points after 4 games he turned up the heat and won 4 of 5 to finish
the night including a last game skunk over Mike "Mr. Quizno's" Clapper.
Pat had an up and down night but held on to edge out Martin for 1st Place.
Good job Pat....you closed the gap a little on the points leaders!
Second was Martin "Ole #1"
Hellberg who turned in a 13 Gm Pt, 6 W, +53 Sprd Pts card.
Martin started off hot but cooled off as the night went on. He got out of
the starters box with 3 straight wins but then ran into "Bad" Betty Morehouse
who handed him his first loss. John "Rotten" Reed jumped on the
wagon and defeated Martin in the very next game. Martin got back on the
right track with close game victories in Games 6 & 7. He ended up losing
the 8th game but skunked his last opponent Helen "The Hellion" Daniels in
order to finish with 13 points. When the smoke cleared, Martin had secured
2nd place and left with a big smile and a pocket full of money!
Third was John "Saweet"
Hensley who turned in a 12 Gm Pt, 6 W, +77 Sprd Pts card. John was on a roller coaster and just needed another
victory to duke it out with Pat "Driller" Jungmann for first place
tonight. John would put together a 2 or 3 game win streak only to have the
carpet yanked out from under him. He won games 1, 3, 4, 5, 7, & 8 with the
average victory coming by 20 points. He had a three off games where he
lost by an average of 10 points.....when your not getting cards in the "off"
games it is hard to put together 5 or 6 game winning streaks that are needed to
land you in 1st place. That's the way it goes some nights, none the less,
$23 and a lot of laughs isn't a bad night at all!
Fourth was "Easy"
Ed Baustian who turned in a 12 Gm Pt, 6 W, -33 Sprd Pts card. Ed tried to race John all night but couldn't quite
keep up. Unlike John, Ed's average win margin was by 6 points (37 positive
/ 6 wins). He squeaked out 4 victories by 3 points or less! That is
how you measure the success of a good night of skillful play. On the flip
side, Ed's losses were by an average of 23 points each.....almost the exact
opposite of John's. Ed finished the night with a 1 point victory over
"Trooper" Tom Varnell and a 3 point victory over "Bad" Betty Morehouse.
Good job Ed!
