These pages follow the adventures of Steve "Snuffy" Smith in the great outdoors. He lives in the foothills of western North Carolina and spends his spare time following NC State Athletics, hiking the mountains of western North Carolina, section-hiking the Appalachian Trail, playing golf, and snow skiing.
Snuffy completed section-hiking the Appalachian Trail in 2006; a seven-year journey that started in Georgia in 2000 and continued northward each year. He finished this adventure after hiking the 100-mile Wilderness from Monson, Maine to Baxter State Park and summitting Mt. Katahdin on September 8, 2006.
Snuffy is already planning his next adventure for the Pacific Crest Trail beginning in 2009.And he can't wait for ski season. Keep up with his adventures through his hiker journal, ski pages and photo gallery on these webpages.
