Mt. Mitchell, NC

Mt. Mitchell is the highest peak in the eastern United States at 6,684 feet. It is located in the Black Mountains of Yancey County, North Carolina, 30 miles northeast of Asheville, NC in the North Carolina mountains.

Mt. Mitchell and several neighboring peaks are part of a 1,800 acre Mt. Mitchell State Park bordering the Blue Ridge Parkway.
