I head back to work today leaving Bob in bed. He is planning to leave for Raleigh by mid-morning. After spending an hour or so in my office in Hickory, I leave for my Charlotte office an hour away. Before I even get out of the county, Bob calls me to tell me that he can't get his car started. I detour back home where we try to get his Tahoe running.

After trying to jump start his car, we finally make a trip to get a new battery. We put the new battery in his car, but that doesn't seem to help. We finally call AAA to tow his car to the Chevrolet dealership in Hickory. It turns out the car has a bad starter that has to be replaced. On Monday afternoon as Bob leaves for home, I close another chapter in the trials of trail hiking.
