Spring 2002 Trip

It’s that time of year again. Time for another hike on the AT. Time flies during the winter months while I’m waiting for my next hike. I spent a couple of weeks skiing out West; Lake Tahoe in March, and Steamboat Springs in April. I hiked over Mt. Rogers a few weeks ago and put in some miles at South Mountain State Park getting ready for this hike.

But mostly I just played with my spreadsheet trying to figure out how many miles I could cover during the trip. It’s always a balance of miles versus days when you’re hiking on vacation. Thru-hikers don’t worry about these things as much! Section-hikers figure too much….

I’m planning to hike from from Pearisburg, Virginia toward Waynesboro, Virginia; up to 224 miles over the next 12-13 days. It's going to take some big mileage days to stay on schedule, so we'll see.
