International
terrorist network of Israeli spies, moles, hit
squads, and provocateurs. Sponsored and supported by the
Israeli government, and often backed up in terrorist activities by
Iraeli police and military forces.
Ha-Mossad le-Modiin ule-Tafkidim
Meyuhadim (Hebrew: Institute for Intelligence and Special
Tasks) is commonly referred to as Mossad. Its focus
is on Arab nations and organizations throughout the world.
Mossad was
formed in April
1951 from the Central
Institute for Coordination and the Central Institute for Intelligence
and Security. Mossad is a civilian service, and does not use
military ranks, although all of the Mossad's staff have served in the Israeli
Defence Force (as a part of Israel's compulsory draft system), and
many of them are officers.
In the photograph at
left, what appears at first glance to be a group of Palestinian
terrorists is revealed by the camera to actually be a poorly
disguised group of Israeli secret service operatives, one of whom has
apparently forgotten to remove or adequately conceal a Jewish
religious symbol, worn as a necklace.

Many
Moslems in the Arab world believe that it was Mossad agents, and not
Osama bin Laden, who were the true perpetrators behind the September 11
attacks, as explained in this 9/26/01 UPI interview with General Hameed Gul,
former Director General of the Pakistani ISI. Insofar as the US
government has not been forthcoming in releasing evidence on bin
Laden's involvement, there is little to dispell the popularity of this
theory in Arab countries, or even similar speculation in
other countries and the US, such as that typified by this Sunday
Herald article, or this article
from freespeech.org.
Mossad has been
involved in several other spectacular debacles. In 1973, Mossad
murdered Ahmad Bouchikhi, an innocent Arab waiter in Lillehammer, Norway, who had been
mistaken for Ali Hassan
Salameh, one of the leaders of the Black September
organization, which was responsible for the Munich Massacre.
The Mossad agents used fake Canadian passports,
which angered the Canadian government.
In 1997,
two Mossad agents were caught in Jordan, on mission to
assassinate Sheikh Khaled Mashal, a
leader of the Hamas terrorist
group. Again, they were using fake Canadian passports. This
led to a diplomatic row with Canada, and Israel was also further forced
to release several Palestinian
prisoners, in particular, the militant Hamas leader Sheikh Ahmed
Yassin, who is playing a prominent role in attacks against Israeli
civilians during the current Al-Aksa Intifada,
in exchange for the Mossad agents.
Mossad
is probably the single most well-known spy agency operating covertly in
the United States. Besides their possible involvement and
undeniable presense in New York on 9/11/01, they have been caught
operating false flag operations outside their own country on a number
of occasions, dating back as far as their involvement, as a 3 year old
agency, in the 1954 Lavon affair.
