She married William Francis Snyder Sr. in Kieler, Grant Cty, WI, April 14, 1942. William was born in Hazel Green, Grant Cty, WI February 15, 1913. William was the son of Peter Snyder and Anna Wiederhold. William died April 3, 2004 in Cuba City, Grant Cty, WI, at 91 years of age. Bill and Dorothy farmed in rural Cuba City, until their retirement in 1988. Bill enjoyed his retirement, spending time with family and friends. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 765 and a veteran of the Army. He will be deeply missed by all. Surviving are his wife, Dorothy, of Cuba City; three daughters, Mary Snyder, of Dubuque, Elaine Snyder, of Madison, and JoAnn (Kenny) Wedig, of Davenport, Iowa; four sons, Art (Linda) Snyder, of De Witt, Iowa, Bob Snyder, of Davenport, Don (Sandy) Snyder, of Long Grove, Iowa, and Bill (Julie) Snyder, of Austin, Minn.; and 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a grandchild, four brothers and a sister. Memorials may be given to Upland Homecare and Hospice. A special thank-you to Hospice for their help and support. She and Bill farmed in rural Cuba City, until their retirement in 1988. She was a lifelong member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas. She also belonged to the Immaculate Conception and St. Rose of Lima church choirs. Dorothy was a loving and committed wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed music, baking, playing cards and spending time with friends. Dorothy also enjoyed quilting. She was a frequent volunteer for many activities both in the community and at church. She will be deeply missed by all. Surviving are three daughters, Mary Snyder, of Dubuque, Elaine Snyder, of Madison, and JoAnn (Kenny) Wedig, of Davenport, Iowa; four sons, Art (Linda) Snyder, of DeWitt, Iowa, Bob Snyder, of Davenport, Iowa, Don (Sandy) Snyder, of Long Grove, Iowa, and Bill (Julie) Snyder, of Austin, Minn.; two sisters, Clotilda Muller, of Kieler, and Bertha (Dick) McMahon, of Lancaster; a sister-in-law, Shirley Averkamp, of Kieler; and 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by a grandson; two brothers; and three sisters. A Dorothy M. Snyder Memorial Fund has been established, which will be donated to her favorite charities.
