25. Arthur3 Averkamp (Gerhard (George)2, Anton Vicentius1) was born in Dickeyville, Grant Cty, WI June 6, 1903. Arthur died February 17, 1985 in Cuba City, Grant Cty, WI, at 81 years of age.
He married Loretta Handfelt in Menominee, Jo Daviess Cty, IL, October 23, 1928. Loretta was born in Menominee, Jo Daviess Cty, IL December 20, 1900. Loretta was the daughter of Herman Handfelt and Adeline Tranel. Loretta died March 22, 1976 in Hazel Green, Grant Cty, WI, at 75 years of age. Telegraph Herald March 24, 1974 Mrs. Arthur Averkamp Services for Mrs. Arthur (Loretta) Averkamp, 73, of Rt. 1 East Dubuque who died at 7:30 a.m. Friday at the Hazel Green, Wis., Hospital will be the Mass of the Resurrection, at 11 a.m. Monday at the Nativity B.V.M. Church at Menominee, Ill. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call after 7 p.m. Saturday at the Haudenshield Funeral Home in East Dubuque. Mrs. Averkamp was born in Menominee, and she lived in this area her entire life. She was a member of Nativity B.V.M. Church and St. Ann's Society of the Church. Surviving besides her husband, Arthur are two daughters, Mrs. Harold (Celina) Houtakker and Mrs. Edmund (Malinda) Dietzel, both of rural Cuba City; two sons Norbert and Dorrance, both of rural East Dubuque; eighteen grandchildren, and three sisters, Mrs. Celia Hargrafen of Dyersville, Ia., Mrs. Anna Hargrafen of Delhi, Ia., and Mrs. Henry (Dora) Wubben of Menominee. Mr. Averkamp was born in Dickeyville, Wis., and farmed until his retirement. He was a member of the Nativity BVM Holy Name Society. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Loretta Handfelt, 1974 and a son, Merol in 1938. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Edmund (Malinda) Dietzel and Mrs. Harold (Celina) Houtakker, both of Route 1, Cuba City; two sons, Norbert and Dorrance, both of Menominee; 21 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, and two sisters, Mrs. Theresa Hartung of Platteville, Wis., and Mrs. Balbina Siepker of Cuba City.
