She married John William McAuliffe in Dickeyville, Grant Cty, WI, November 17, 1948. John was born in Gratiot, Lafayette Cty, WI May 31, 1922. John was the son of Frank McAuliffe and Minnie Dornedon. John died March 21, 1999 in Platteville, Grant Cty, WI, at 76 years of age. His body was interred in Holy Ghost Cemetery, Dickeyville, WI. Telegraph Herald March 23, 1999 John W. Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. today at Casey Funeral Home, Cuba City, where there will be a parish wake service at 4 p.m. Mr. McAuliffe farmed with his wife until retiring in 1989. He was born on May 31, 1922, in Gratiot, son of Frank and Minnie (Dorneden) McAuliffe. He married Marcella Hesseling on Nov. 17, 1948. He graduated from Gratiot High School in 1940. He was a member of the Catholic Knights of Columbus and enjoyed working with animals and the land. He loved playing cards, listening to the radio, reading and following a variety of sports. Surviving are his wife, Marcella, of Cuba City; a daughter, Connie (rich) Geyer, of Cuba City; three sons, Bob (Joyce) McAuliffe, of Dubuque, Bill McAuliffe, of Rockford, Ill., and Rich McAuliffe, of Milwaukee; and six grandchildren, Stacey and Megan Geyer, Arica, Josh and Mitch McAuliffe and Corey Valaskey. He was preceded in death by a son, Daniel McAuliffe; his father and mother, Frank and Minnie (Dorneden) McAuliffe; a brother Francis McAuliffe; and two sisters, Esther Gabel and Margaret Goffinet. In lieu of flowers, a John W. McAuliffe Memorial Fund for diabetes research has been established. The family of John W. Marcella was always up for a good game of cards. She loved spending time with her friends and family. Marcella was a good and caring mother and grandmother, often cooking delicious meals for her family. She will always be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor. Surviving are four children, Robert (Joyce) McAuliffe, of Dubuque, William McAuliffe, of Chicago, Connie (Rich) Geyer, of Cuba City, and Richard McAuliffe, of Milwaukee; and six grandchildren, Arica, Josh and Mitchell McAuliffe, Stacey and Megan Geyer, and Corey Valaskey. She also was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Daniel McAuliffe; five brothers, George, Ray, Vince, Ed and Len; and two sisters, Adeline Budden and Teresa Brant. In lieu of flowers, a Marcella A. McAuliffe Memorial Fund has been established with proceeds to be given to the Alzheimer's Association. The family would like to express their sincerest gratitude to Heartland Health Care Center, especially Patti and Pauline.
