Grand Rapids Tribune June 28, 1902 Page 8 Rudolph It is reported that a tramp visited the home of John Coulthart on Wednesday while all the family was away except Ray, an eleven year old boy, and attempted to get away with something of value, but failed. The story is that the tramp entered the house after he had questioned the boy and discovered that the family was absent, the boy picked up a Winchester rifle and advised him to move on. The gun was not loaded, and while the boy was trying to get a shell into the weapon the tramp grabbed the gun and got it away from the boy. Ray then back into an adjoining room and locked the door, and remained there until the tramp left. It could not be discovered that the tramp took anything.
