94. Jane A6 Coulthart (Walter5, John4, John3, John2, Christopher1) was born in Ontario February 8, 1855. Jane died May 25, 1928 in Minot, ND, at 73 years of age.

She married Daniel H. Kimball in Grand Forks, ND, January 18, 1882. Daniel was born in Maine September 19, 1851. Daniel died July 28, 1914 in Minot, ND, at 62 years of age. His body was interred in Rosehill Cemetery, Minot, ND. Minot Daily Optic Recorder August 1, 1914 DANIEL H. KIMBALL DIED JULY 30, 1914 Dan Kimball buried with High Honors. Minot's oldest police officer laid to rest by Masons. City Hall offices close. Large crowd attends final ceremonies for old timer. A high tribute was paid to the late Daniel H. Kimball, who died in his home Thursday morning from heart trouble, when his funeral was held this afternoon with all the pomp and dignity of the Masonic rites. Funeral services began at 2 o'clock this afternoon at the Masonic Temple. Rev. Olson of the Methodist church preached a sermon and then the services were turned over to the Mason's Worshipful Master C.B. Bach officiating. Out of respect for Minot's oldest member of the Police force and in order to attend the funeral, the offices of City auditor, city engineer and city assessor at the City Hall were closed this afternoon and its inmates left to pay final and fitting respects to the dead. A large crowd of the old pioneers friends were in attendance at the funeral this afternoon. Besides the wife, all of his children were present. They were William and Webster Kimball of Minot, James Kimball of Makoti and Florence Kimball of Minot. The body was laid to rest in Rosehill Cemetery. Minot Daily Optic Reporter July 30, 1914 SERGEANT KIMBALL IS DEAD. Minot's first police officer passes away at home. Pioneer of early days. He came to North Dakota in 1886 and pioneered with old timers. Dan H. Kimball, age 64 years, one of the pioneers of ND, the oldest and first policeman in the city of Minot, with a record of 33 years of active police service in this and other cities to his credit, died this morning at 1:15 o'clock of heart trouble, at his home, 620 East First Street. Mr. Kimball had been seriously ill with heart trouble for the past five weeks and the last four days was out of his head and in a dying condition. ILL LAST FALL. Sergeant Kimball suffered a spell of illness last fall about the time of the 1WW trouble and was confined to is home for some time. Becoming improved in health he resumed his duties at the police station as Sergeant. However, recently he suffered another serious attack and was unable to recover from it. "Dad" Kimball was one of the last of a line of old timers that is fast diminishing, a striking example of the fine men of the early days who make this country what it is. The loss of such a mans is keenly felt and is a blow to the entire community. His record of 20 years on the police force of Minot is a thing to be proud of. His faithful and efficient service winning for him such respect and admiration that can never be bought. CAME IN 86 Dan came to Dakota in 1886 from the East. He experienced pioneering in its earliest states. For a number of years, Mr. Kimball hunted buffalo bones on the prairie of this then wild country, selling them to the Great Northern railroad. Twenty years ago he was appointed chief of police of Minot, being the city's firs police officer. He served this city in that capacity for many years until he became too old for that active service. Then he was made desk sergeant of the city force. IN OTHER CITIES However, the 20 years "Dad" served in Minot is not all the police service he experienced. For thirteen years previous he served on the police force of other cities. Some of the places where he served as an officer were: Grafton and Fargo North Dakota, Boston, Massachusetts. Boston was the home of Mr. Kimball when he was a young man. The deceased is survived by Mrs. Jennie Kimball, his wife; Three sons: William and Webster Kimball of Minot, and James Kimball of Makoti and one daughter Florence Kimball of Minot. FUNERAL NOT SET The time for the funeral has not been decided on yet, word from Mr. Kimball's relatives in Maine being awaited. The funeral will be held at the Masonic Temple. Minot Daily News, Minot, North Dakota. May 26, 1928. MRS. KIMBALL, PIONEER OF MINOT, DIES AFTER ILLNESS OF ONE WEEK - Widow of Former Police Chief Lived Nearly 40 Years In Vicinity. Mrs. Jennie Alice Kimball, aged 73, resident of Minot and vicinity for nearly four decades, died yesterday afternoon at her home on Central Avenue East. The end followed an illness of a week's duration with pneumonia, death coming peacefully to summon one of the few remaining pioneer women of the city. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 Monday afternoon at the Finnegan funeral home, with the Rev. W. E. Pool delivering the funeral oration. The survivors include three sons and a daughter, all residing in Minot, and six grandchildren. James, William and Daniel are the sons and Florence the daughter. Mrs. Kimball was the widow of Daniel Kimball, for 20 years chief of police in Minot, who died July 28, 1914. Mr. Kimball was Minot's first police officier and had served 33 years in his profession in various cities. Born in Osenburg, Ontario in 1855, Jennie Alice Kimball moved to Minnesota when a young girl, later making her home in Grand Forks. In that city she was married in 1881 and after seven years of residence in Grafton which followed, the pioneers migrated to the Mouse valley in the sparsely settled region of what is now western North Dakota. Moving to Minot in 1890, the Kimballs established in this city a home which was to endure until death. For two years prior to moving to Minot they had resided on a farm six miles northeast of the city.
