54. Mary Elizabeth6 Hunter (Jane5 Coulthart, John4, John3, John2, Christopher1) was born in Winchester, Dundas Cty, ON October 5, 1843. Mary died June 26, 1930 in Waterford, Dakota Cty, MN, at 86 years of age. Her body was interred in Oaklawn Cemetery.

She married William R. Gibson in Sciota, Dakota Cty, MN, March 9, 1870. William was born in Spencerville, ON July 28, 1839. William was the son of George Gibson and Jane Ramage. William died April 26, 1920 in Waterford, Dakota Cty, MN, at 80 years of age. Northfield News May 7, 1920 OBITUARY William Gibson William Gibson died at his home at Waterford Monday afternoon, April 26, after an illness of several weeks. The funeral services were held last week Thursday from the home, Rev. E.B. Dean and Rev. W.H. Southerland of Medford officiating. Mr. Gibson was born in Spencerville, Ontario, Canada, July 28, 1839. He was the fourth of a family of eight children. In 1864 he left Canada and settled on a farm near Medford, this state, where he lived until 1898. In 1898 he moved to Waterford township and continued his farming interests until his removal to Waterford village in 1913. He was married in March 1870, to Miss Mary Hunter. The couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on the ninth of March. Seven children were born to them, three boys and four girls. The boys are, W.W., George M., and J. Murray, all of Waterford; and the girls are Jennie E. Pike, Minneapolis; Mary Carpenter and Margaret Frame who live near Waterford, Barbara Sperry, the other daughter died seven years ago. Besides his wife and children he is survived by twenty-one grandchildren; a brother, James Gibson of Salem, Oregon; and a sister, Mrs. Marion McDonald of Owatonna. The large number of his friends and relatives who attended his funeral shows the respect and esteem in which he was held in the community. Those from away attending the funeral were Mrs. G.M. Flinn, Mrs. R. Staple, and Mr. and Mrs. Davis of Medford; Arthur and Roy Wilson of Merton; Mrs. P.R. Pike, Mrs. Smith, Mrs. Will McDonald and Mrs. Ed Nailer of Owatonna; Ed Gates of St. Paul and Fred Hunter of Minneapolis. The Independent July 3, 1930 Mrs. William Gibson, Sr. Mrs. William, St., died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Margaret Frame, Thursday, June 26, at 3 a.m. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the home of Mrs. Frame in Waterford. Rev. Samuel Johnson officiated. Two hymns, "Shall We Gather at the River" and "Nearer My God to Thee" were sung by Mrs. E. J. Sweeney and Mrs. Oscar Donaldson, accompanied by Miss Mary Seith. Internment was made in Oaklawn cemetery. Mary Elizabeth Hunter was born in Winchester, Canada, Oct 5, 1843 and lived there until in 1862, when she moved with her parents to Minnesota, settling on a farm in what was then known as Lewiston, Dakota county. Here she lived until 1870, when she was married to William Gibson of Medford. They made their home at Medford until 1898, when they moved to Waterford, where Mrs. Gibson continued to reside. Although failing in health for the last few years, she was able to be up and around, and was confined to her bed only one week before she died. Mrs. Gibson was a member of the Congregation church. She leaves to mourn her loss three sons and three daughters; W.W. Gibson and J.M. Gibson of Waterford, George M. Gibson of Northfield, Mrs. M.E. Pike of Muskegon, Mich., Mrs. Margaret Frame of Waterford, and Mrs. Mary Carpenter of Northfield. Her husband died in April 1920, and one daughter Barbara Isabel also preceded her in death. There are 23 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, and one brother, J.W. Hunter of Northfield. Those from away attending the funeral were: Mr. and Ms. William Frame and Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Law and two children of Muskegon, Mich.; Mr. and Mrs. Dell Davis, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Wilson, Mr. and Mrs. William McDonald and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Neil Hankerson, Mrs. William Hankerson, Mrs. G.M. Flynn, Mrs. Effie Mann, Mrs. and Mrs. Ed Smith and son, and Mrs. P.R. Pike, all of Owatonna; C.W. Heath and Mrs. C. White of Medford, Miss Margaret Frame of Red Wing, and Mrs. George Frame of St. Paul.

Mary Elizabeth Hunter and William R. Gibson had the following children:

child 166 v. Barbara Isabel (Tibbie) Gibson was born in Medford, Steele Cty, MN August 1878. Barbara died May 1913 in Spirit Lake, IA, at 34 years of age. Her body was interred in Northfield, Rice Cty, MN. She married Carl Sporry December 31, 1912. Northfield Independent May 22, 1913 Death of Mrs. Carl Sporrey. Mr. and Mrs. W.W. Gibson were called to Spirit Lake on Monday of last week by the serious illness of their daughter, Mrs. Barbara Sporrey. Her death early Monday morning was a shock to her relatives and friends here. Mr. Gibson returned home on Tuesday and Mr. Sporrey and Mrs. Gibson accompanied the remains to this place. Funeral services were held at the family home on Wednesday afternoon, Rev. E.B. Dean of the Congregational church of Northfield officiating. The internment was made in Northfield cemetery. The service was largely attended by pupils and former pupils of the deceased. Mrs. Sporrey taught the Waterford school for several years, teaching in the home school last fall until Christmas time when she married to Mr. Carl Sporrey. Mrs. Sporrey leaves to mourn her loss three brothers, George of Salem, Oregon, W.W. and Murray of this place, and three sisters, Mrs. Edward Pike of Minneapolis, and Mrs. Margaret Frame, and Mrs. Frank Carpenter.
