116. Johiel6 Moke (Henrietta5 Coulthart, John4, John3, John2, Christopher1) was born in Ontario September 15, 1863. Johiel died March 6, 1950 in Osnabruck Township, Stormont Cty, ON, at 86 years of age. His body was interred in Memorial Hill Cemetery, Lunenburg, ON.

He married twice. He married Lydia Stata 1885. Lydia was born February 25, 1863. Lydia died March 12, 1890 at 27 years of age. Her body was interred in Oswego, NY. He married Gertrude Rupert in North Lunenburg, ON, August 6, 1890. Gertrude was born in Osnabruck Township, Stormont Cty, ON July 5, 1871. Gertrude died March 30, 1952 in Northfield, ON, at 80 years of age. Mrs. Johiel Moke Dies Northfield Result of Stroke Dixon - Mrs. Johiel Moke a highly respected resident of the Fifth Concession of Osnabruck, passed away at the home of Mr. and Mrs. W. N. Bush, Northfield, on Sunday, March 31. Mrs. Moke had been in her usual health and was visiting at her daughter's home when she suffered a stroke on March 21, from which she failed to rally. The former Gertrude Rupert, born July 5, 1871, she was the widow of Johiel Moke who predeceased her on March 6, 1950. She spent her entire life in this neighborhood, where she was a devoted wife and mother, a splendid neighbor, one who was ever ready to do a good turn in time of need, and these attributes made for her a host of friends by whom her death will be sincerely regretted. She is survived by one stepdaughter, three sons and three daughters - Mrs. Sheridan Rupert (Olive), Oswego, N.Y.; Ira, Osnabruck Centre; Arthur, at home; Wesley, at Dunbar; Mrs. R.E. McEwan (Laura), Lunenburg; Mrs. W. N. Bush (Eunice), Northfield; Mrs. K. Kingsley (Ethel), Norwood, N.Y. She was predeceased by a son, Thomas in May, 1933. She also leaves 23 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren. The Funeral The funeral service was held at her residence on Tuesday afternoon, with Rev. Wm. Watson, Osnabruck Baptist Church pastor, officiating. The hymns chosen by the deceased were "Let The Lower Lights Be Burning" and "When the Roll Is Called Up Yonder." Pall bearers were six grandsons - Milford and Ross Rupert, Oswego, N.Y.; Dalton Moke, Cornwall; Lawrence Moke, Donald Moke and Willie Bush. Many beautiful floral tributes testified to the esteem in which the deceased was held. Friends present from a distance included Mr. and Mrs. Sheridan Rupert, Milford and Ross Rupert and Mrs. Robert Vandish, Oswego, N.Y.; Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Kingsley, Barbara and Lynn and Mr. and Mrs. Leon Palmer, Norwood, N.Y.; Mr. and Mrs. Carl Dignean, Mrs. Merrit Henderson, Jack Dignean, Hugh Kingsley, George Eamon and Mr. and Mrs. Bob Rose, Massena, N.Y.; Mr. and Mrs. Ira Weegar and Ray, Elma; Mrs. Susie Loucks and Miss Ella Hamilton, Russell; Mr. and Mrs. Allen Swerdfeger, Morewood; Mr. and Mrs. H.S. Prosser, Moulinette; Mr. and Mrs. Dalton Moke and Mrs. Douglas Armstrong, Mr. and Mrs. J.C. Edward, Cornwall; Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Carr, Williamsburg; Mrs. Jennie Martin, Mrs. Ruby Morgan, Mrs. Elsie Orton, Mrs. Hattie Crabtree and Mrs. C.C. Barnes, Norwood, N.Y.; and many friends from the surrounding district. The remains were placed in the vault to await burial in Memorial Hill cemetery in the spring. Friends Regret Learn of Death of Johiel Moke The death of Johiel Moke, a well known and highly respected farmer of Osnabruck, occurred at his home Monday, March 6, after an illness of seven weeks. He was in his 87th year, the son of the late Ira Moke and Henrietta Coulthart, and was twice married, his first wife being Lydia Stata, who predeceased him in 1888. Left to mourn his passing are his wife, the former Gertrude Rupert; one sister, Mrs. George Burton, Wales, the last surviving member of his family. Four daughters and three sons - Mrs. Sheridan Rupert (Olive), Oswego, N.Y.; by the first marriage; Ira, Osnabruck Centre; Mrs. Roy E. McEwan (Laura), Lunenburg; Arthur, at home; J Wesley, Dunbar, Ont.; Mrs. Willis N. Bush (Eunice), Northfield; Mrs. Kenneth Kingsley (Ethel), Norwood, N.Y. A son Thomas, predeceased him in May 1933. He also leaves 23 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. The funeral service was held at the home, conducted by the Rev. David Alexander, pastor of Osnabruck Baptist Church, who spoke comforting words to the bereaved. Hymns sung were "Rock of Ages" and "Abide With Me". The remains were placed in the vault to await burial in Memorial Hill Cemetery in the spring. Many floral tributes were placed about the casket and numerous messages of sympathy were received by the family. Among relatives and friends attending the service were Mrs. Sheridan Rupert, Mrs. Francis McGrath, Mrs. John E. Harper, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Vandish and Ross Rupert, Oswego, N.Y.; Milford Rupert, Fulton, N.Y.; Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Kingsley and family Norwood, Hugh Kingsley, Mrs. Merritt Henderson, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Dignean, Racket River, N.Y.; Mrs. Bob Rose, Ogdensburg, N.Y.; Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Loucks, Mrs. Fred Loucks, Bill Loucks and Mrs. Lawrence Brown, Russell; Mr. and Mrs. Harold Marcellus, Dunbar; and many friends from the surrounding district.
