453. Robert H.8 Marchant (Mary7 Jeanquart, Jules6, Charles Joseph5, Nicolas4 Janquart, Nicolas Joseph3, Amand2, Bauduin1) was born in Duvall, Kewaunee Cty, WI November 23, 1923. Robert died April 28, 2005 in Green Bay, Brown Cty, WI, at 81 years of age. His body was interred April 30, 2005 in St. Francis DePaul Cemetery, Duval.
He married Gertrude Odile Jullian Vandertie in Brussels, Door Cty, WI, June 9, 1943. Gertrude was born in Brussels, Door Cty, WI March 7, 1925. Gertrude was the daughter of Henry Vandertie and Laura DeJardin. Gertrude died September 2, 1964 in Duval, Brown Cty, WI, at 39 years of age. Algoma Record Herald September, 3, 1964 Duvall Woman Killed Walking in Driveway Luxemburg - Mrs. Robert Marchant, 39, R2, Luxemburg, was killed about 10:15 a.m. Wednesday when she was struck by a car in the driveway of her Town of Red River home. The driver was Joseph Hermans, about 53, also R2, Luxemburg, who told Kewaunee county authorities that he had fallen asleep. The accident happened on County Trunk A, about a half mile west of Duvall. The car, traveling west, went off the north side of the road between the Marchant mailbox and a tree and struck Mrs. Marchant as she was walking the driveway after picking up the morning mail. The mailbox is on the same side of the road as the Marchant home. The body was found about 35 feet from the point of impact. Death, instantaneous, was caused by a skull fracture, broken neck and chest injuries. The car went through a fence, stopping in a field. Fifth Death of Year It was reported that Marvin Bins, rural mail carrier, had place the mail in the Marchant box shortly before and was continuing his route when the accident occurred. He returned to the scene. Mrs. Marchant's death raises Kewaunee county's 1964 traffic toll to five. Funeral services at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Francis Catholic church, Duvall. The Rev. D.H. Hockers will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery. Mrs. Marchant, the former Gertrude Vandertie, was born at Misiere Mar. 7, 1925, and was married in St. Michael's church, Misiere, June 9, 1943. She was a member of the Leauge of Sacred Heart of St. Francis, Duvall. Survivors are the husband; one daughter, Barbara, 16 at home; the parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Vandertie, Misiere, and a brother, Herman Vandertie, also of Misiere. Friends may call at the McMahon funeral home, Luxemburg, after 7 p.m. this Thursday. The rosary will be prayed at 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday. Green Bay Press Gazette April 29, 2005 Marchant, Mr. Robert "Bob" H. Mr. Robert "Bob" H. Marchant, 81, Luxemburg, died Thursday morning, April 28, 2005, at St. Vincent Hospital, Green Bay. He was born Nov. 23, 1923, in Duvall, to the late Jule and Mary (Jeanquart) Marchant. On June 9, 1943, he married Gertrude Vandertie at St. Michael Church, Misiere. She preceded him in death Sept. 2, 1964. He went to Cleveland, Ohio and received his welding degree, then went on to work at Bay Ship Yards and Hub Charles Sand and Gravel. He farmed in Duvall between 1944 and 1971. Bob served as Kewaunee County Deputy Sheriff for over 20 years. He enjoyed being with his grandkids and great-grandkids, playing cuyoo and watching football games, especially the Green Bay Packers. When he was still able, he enjoyed going on hunting trips out West and fishing. After his retirement, he enjoyed spending time in the garage working with wood and other projects. Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Barb and Gary Alsteen, Luxemburg; two grandchildren, Tracy (Kevin) Fager, Green Bay; Troy (Shannon) Alsteen, Casco; four great-grandchildren, Kelsey and Tyler Fager, Trey and Tanner Alsteen; one brother, Willard (Bea) Marchant, Brussels; three sisters, Rose Granius, Lucy Jauquet, both of Brussels; Gladys Bouche, Green Bay, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Lester (Germaine) Marchant, Melvin (Joyce) Marchant; one sister, Doris (Clarence) DeWitt; four brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law, Herman (Ella Mae) Vandertie, Leonard Bouche, John Jauquet and Louis Granius; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Henry and Laura Vandertie. Friends may call at McMAHON FUNERAL HOME, LUXEMBURG, 3 to 8 p.m., Friday (Today). Parish prayer service 6 p.m. Visitation continues after 9 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary Church, Luxemburg. Funeral 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Church with Rev. Milton Suess officiating. Burial in St. Francis De Paul Cemetery, Duvall.
