68. Stephen James3 McMahon (John Enoch2, Edward Matthew1) was born in Doylestown, Columbia Cty, WI December 9, 1873. Stephen died April 16, 1957 in Chippewa Falls, WI, at 83 years of age. His body was interred April 22, 1957 in Cornell Cemetery.

He married Cecelia Agnes Callahan in Sun Prairie, Dane Cty, WI, January 2, 1899. Cecelia was born in Shefield, IA June 5, 1879. Cecelia was the daughter of James Callahan and Sarah Ann Coffee. Cecelia died December 21, 1965 in Eau Claire, WI, at 86 years of age. Her body was interred in Cornell Cemetery. Herald Telegram December 23, 1965 Mrs. Cecelia McMahon Mrs. Cecelia Agnes McMahon, 2421 Somona Parkway, Eau Claire, died at Sacred Heart Hospital there Tuesday afternoon. Mrs. McMahon was born June 5, 1879 at Cottage Grove, Wisconsin. She was married to Stephen J. McMahon in Madison in 1899. They lived in Doylestown for ten years, then moved to Portage for four years, and to Missouri for six years. She had resided in Chippewa County since 1921. Surviving are four sons, Forster McMahon, Bloomer; Francis, Mark and Victor, all of Cornell; three daughters, Mrs. Emil (Rose) Olson, Eau Claire; Mrs. Clark (Katherine) Anderson, Sheldon; and Mrs. John (Helen) Quinlan, Chippewa Falls; one brother, Eugene Callahan, Minneapolis; 20 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; and one son, Robert who was killed in service in 1944; six brothers and four sisters. Mrs. McMahon was a member of the Christian Mothers Society of Holy Cross church, Cornell; the Altar Society and Gold Star Mothers. Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 11 o'clock at Holy Cross church, Cornell, with Father John Nilles officiating. Internment will be in the Cornell Cemetery. The Rosary will be recited at 7:30 o'clock Thursday evening at the funeral home. Friends may call at the funeral home from two p.m. Thursday until the time of the funeral. Herald Telegram April 17, 1957 Stephen James McMahon Stephen James McMahon 83, passed away at St. Joseph's Hospital in Chippewa Falls, Tuesday, April 16. He was born to John and Elizabeth McMahon on December 9, 1873 at Doylestown, Wisconsin and was married to Cecelia Callahan on June 2, 1899 at Sun Prairie, Wisconsin. He had been a resident of Chippewa County for the past 35 years, and for the past 13 years a resident of Cornell. He is survived by his wife and three daughters Mrs. Emil (Rose) Olson of Eau Claire, Mrs. Park (Katherine) Anderson of Sheldon, and Mrs. John (Helen) Quinlan of Chippewa Falls. Four sons Mark T., Victor J., Francis J. all of Cornell and John F., of Bloomer, one son and one daughter preceded him in death. Twenty-three grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren also survive. Mr. McMahon was a also a member of the Holy Name Society of the Holy Cross church at Cornell. Services will be held Thursday morning at 10:00 a.m. at the Holy Cross church in Cornell, with the Reverend Russell Tremblay officiating, internment will be in the Cornell cemetery. The funeral mass will be said on Monday morning. The rosary will be recited at 8:00 tonight at the Cornell Funeral home.

He married Alice Birch in Jim Falls, WI, September 30, 1929. Alice was born in Cadott, WI August 29, 1907. Alice was the daughter of George Birch and Martha Wagner. Alice died October 8, 1991 in Cornell, Chippewa Cty, WI, at 84 years of age. Her body was interred October 11, 1991 in Cornell Cemetery. Herald Telegram October 9, 1991 Alice M. McMahon Cornell - Alice M. McMahon, 84, of Cornell, died Tuesday, Oct. 8, 1991, at her home. She was born Aug. 29, 1907, in Cadott, the daughter of Martha (Wagner) and George Birch. She was raised in Holcombe and married Mark McMahon on Sept. 30, 1929, in Jim Falls. She has been employed at the Northern Wisconsin Center for the Developmentally Disable and St. Joseph's Hospital, Chippewa Falls. She has also worked at the Cornell Bakery for many years. She was a member of Holy Cross Catholic church in Cornell, where she had been the sacristan for over 50 years. She was also a member of PCCW and St. Cecilia's Circle at Holy Cross. Survivors include her husband and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Martin and Royal Birch. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Holy Cross Catholic church, with Father Henry Lee officiating. Burial will be in the Cornell Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Borton Funeral home in Cornell where a rosary will be said at 4:30 p.m. and a prayer vigil will be held at 7:30 p.m. Chippewa Herald July 9, 1995 Mark T. McMahon Mark T. McMahon, 91, former resident of Cornell, died Friday, July 7, 1995, at the Golden Age Nursing Home in Chippewa Falls. He was born the son of Stephen and Cecilia (Callahan) McMahon March 8, 1904 in Doylestown. Mark married Alice Birch Sept. 30, 1929, in Jim Falls. They had resided in Cornell most of their lives. Mark had worked for the St. Regis paper mill in Cornell for 42 years, retiring in 1969. Mark was a member of Holy Cross Catholic church in Cornell. After his wife's death in 1991, he resided with his niece Colleen Danielson at Route 1, Cadott, before entering the Golden Age Nursing Home. Survivors include three sisters; Helen Quinlan, Rose Olson and Katherine Anderson, all of Chippewa Falls; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, sister Ruthie, and three brothers; Victor, Francis and Foster. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Cross Catholic church in Cornell with Fr. Jeremiah Cashman and Fr. Henry Lee officiating. Burial will be in the Cornell Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Borton Funeral home in Cornell, where there will be a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.

child 162 viii. Robert Woodrow McMahon was born in Rusk Cty, WI April 21, 1919. Robert died June 24, 1944 in South Pacific, at 25 years of age. Robert was Private in the Army Field Artillery and was awarded the Purple Heart and is listed on the Tablets of the Missing at Honolulu Memorial in Honolulu, Hawaii. He was captured on Java by the Japanese and was held for 3 years and died on a prisoner transport ship.
