65. William Joseph3 McMahon (John Enoch2, Edward Matthew1) was born in Doylestown, Columbia Cty, WI February 15, 1868. William died November 18, 1944 in Jefferson, Jefferson Cty, WI, at 76 years of age. His body was interred November 21, 1944 in St. Mary's Cemetery, Portage.

He married Mary Kirley in Doylestown, Columbia Cty, WI, June 1, 1892. Mary was born in Doylestown, Columbia Cty, WI 1872. Mary was the daughter of James Kirley and Mary Finnegan. Mary died May 17, 1942 at 69 years of age. Capital Times May 19, 1942 Mrs. Mary McMahon Dies Funeral services for Mrs. Mary McMahon, 70, wife of William McMahon, Caledonia township farmer who died at her home Sunday following a brief illness will be held Wednesday morning from St. Mary's Catholic church in this city with Rev. Fr. J.B. Plette officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's cemetery. Other survivors are five children, Delbert of Dayton O., Paul of Lewiston township, Eugene of Portage, Ralph of Waunakee, Wis., and Mrs. Pearl Johnson, Lewiston township. Died at Forest Lawn Santorium.

child 141 iii. Raymond J. McMahon was born in Doylestown, Columbia Cty, WI July 31, 1895. Raymond died December 6, 1941 in Beloit, Rock Cty, WI, at 46 years of age. He married Mary Cutts. Janesville Daily Gazette December 8, 1941 Two Killed in Road Accidents Two Rock county residents died over the weekend as the result of injuries suffered in automobile accidents. They were Raymond J. McMahon, 46 of 327 North River street. Donald Thompson, 19, Edgerton Route 4. McMahon was killed at 10:50 p.m. Saturday when he was struck by a car driven by Donald Roberts, 27, 1950 Wisconsin Avenue, Beloit, as he was walking across the three lane Beloit road four miles south of Janesville on Highway 51. Roberts was severely cut by flying glass and it is feared that he may lose his sight. McMahon was struck by the left front fender of the car and tossed over the hood into the windshield. He was killed almost instantly. Roberts said he did not see McMahon who was in the center lane crossing from the west to the east side of the highway until it was too late to avoid striking him. He said he saw two person standing on the side of the road just before his car hit McMahon. Mrs. Mary Chesmore, 327 North River Street, Janesville, told deputies she and McMahon had been in Lorretta’s tavern and left at 10:45 p.m. She said they started to walk across the highway with the intention of stopping a Greyhound bus to ride back to Janesville. She said she had crossed the highway and turned to see whether McMahon was coming just as he was struck by the car. Other pedestrians who witnessed the accident were Mrs. D.W. Briggs, 1529 Racine Street, Janesville and Mrs. Rose Pastorius, Edgerton. McMahon was born in Doylestown July 31, 1895, the son of William and Mary Kirley McMahon. He lived on a farm near Doylestown until he was 14 when the family moved to Portage. He enlisted in he army during World War No. 1 and served with Company A of the 11th infantry, serving in the battle of Chateau Thierry where he was wounded. He was discharged April 4, 1919. After his discharge he was employed by Fairbanks, Morse plant in Beloit until 1919 when he came to Janesville where he had been employed as a bartender by George Duller, Pat O’Hara and Bob Burmeister. He was married in St. Mary’s church Oct. 20, to Miss Mary Cutts. Surviving are his parents in Portage; two sons, Robert, Tampa, Fla., and Lawrence, Janesville; a sister, Mrs. Pearl Johnson, Portage; and four brothers, Delbert, Dayton, O., Paul Portage, Eugene, Portage, and Ralph Waunakee. Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning in Portage with burial in St. Mary’s cemetery. Friends may call at the Cutts funeral home, 115 N. Jackson street, Tuesday night.

child 145 vii. Mary Loretta McMahon was born 1905. Mary died December 19, 1938 at 33 years of age. Wisconsin State Journal December 21, 1938 Mary L. McMahon, Caledonia, Dies in Portage Portage - Mary L. McMahon, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William McMahon, town of Caledonia, died at a hospital here Monday. She was born in Pardeville. Survivors are her parents, one sisters, Mrs. Hans Johnson, town of Lewiston, five brothers, Raymond, Janesville, Delbert, Cincinnati, OH, Paul, town of Pacific, and Eugene and Ralph, Portage. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 p.m. Thursday from St. Mary's church, the Rev. J. B. Piette officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's cemetery.

child 146 viii. Ralph L. McMahon was born in WI September 30, 1911. Ralph died September 21, 1978 in Madison, Dane Cty, WI, at 66 years of age. He married Marion H. Behling. Marion was born March 16, 1914. Marion died October 18, 1998 at 84 years of age.
