41. William Anderson3 McMahon (Hugh Peter2, Edward Matthew1) was born in Rio, Columbia Cty, WI June 9, 1875. William died October 24, 1948 in Doylestown, Columbia Cty, WI, at 73 years of age. His body was interred October 26, 1948 in St. Patrick's Church Cemetery, Doylestown, WI.

He married twice. He married Bridgetta Cleary 1905. Bridgetta was born in WI October 5, 1879. Bridgetta was the daughter of Thomas Cleary and Catherine Donahoe. Bridgetta died June 17, 1909 in Doylestown, Columbia Cty, WI, at 29 years of age. Her body was interred June 19, 1909 in St. Patrick's Church Cemetery, Doylestown, WI. He married Ella Tracy January 24, 1912. Ella was born March 3, 1881. Ella was the daughter of Thomas Tracy and Mary Ann McInery. Ella died November 11, 1947 in Wyocena, Columbia Cty, WI, at 66 years of age. Her body was interred November 14, 1947 in St. Patrick's Church Cemetery, Doylestown, WI. Rio Journal November 4, 1948 Funeral Services Held for Wm. McMahon, Doylestown Funeral services for William A. McMahon, 73, who died Oct. 24, were held from his Doylestown home and St. Patrick's Catholic church, Doylestown, Tuesday, Oct. 26, at 9 a.m., the Rev. Fr. Francis E. Doherty officiating. The pallbearers were E.H. Kirley, E.M. Breen W.J. Baw and Robert McMahon. Internment was in the family lot in St. Patrick's cemetery, Doylestown. Mr. McMahon, adopted son of Mr. and Mrs. Hugh McMahon, was born at Rio June 9, 1875. After spending his early years in the immediate vicinity he enlisted in the army at the age of 18 and during his second enlistment saw action in our war with Spain in Cuba in June, 1898. In 1905 he was married to Bridget Cleary who died in 1909 leaving four children. His second marriage took place in 1912 to Ella Tracy. Two sons were born on this marriage. His second wife died Nov. 11, 1947. His occupation in life was that of rural mail carrier, serving from 1911 until his retirement in 1934. His retired life was spent at his home in Doylestown and at his summer home at Little Sturgeon, Wisconsin. About 18 months ago, Mr. McMahon suffered a heart attack but recovered after about six weeks of hospitalization. From that time on his health steadily improved and for the past year it seemed to be good. Death came very suddenly Sunday morning, Oct. 24, when he passed away in his sleep. Surviving are five children, Russell of Milwaukee, Raymond of Doylestown, Frances, Mrs. William Naughton of Chicago; Thomas of DeForest and Hugh Joseph of Ashippun; one brother Charles Anderson of Elleston, Mont.; one sister, Mrs. Louise Barbow of Portland, Ore.; six grandchildren, Michael and Paul of DeForest, Carol of Milwaukee, and Patrick, Kay and Sheila Naughton of Chicago. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Florence, in 1925.

child 113 i. Florence Margaret4 McMahon was born in WI August 26, 1906. Florence died November 22, 1925 in Franklin, Manitowoc, WI, at 19 years of age. Her body was interred November 24, 1925 in St. Patrick's Church Cemetery, Doylestown, WI.

child 114 ii. William Russell McMahon was born in Doylestown, Columbia Cty, WI October 15, 1907. William died September 9, 2001 in Portage, Columbia Cty, WI, at 93 years of age. He married Leone Bennett September 18, 1937. Leone was born July 26, 1916. Leone died March 27, 1992 at 75 years of age. Portage Daily Register September 11, 2001 W. Russell "Mac" McMahon Portage - William Russell McMahon, age 93, died Sunday, September 9, 2001 at his home in Portage, Wisconsin. Born October 15, 1907, in Doylestown, Wisconsin, his parents were William A. E. McMahon and Brigetta Cleary McMahon. Mr. McMahon was a proud 8th grade graduate of Doylestown Public School and set off to find his way in the world at a young age. He helped construct Highway 16 between Portage and Columbus, married Leone Bennett of Rio in 1938, then found his fortune in Milwaukee, where he was a warehouse foreman for Joseph Schlitz brewery for 30 years, retiring in 1972. He spent his retirement years in Beaver Dam, Fox Lake and Portage. He was preceded in death by his wife Leone in 1992, earlier by his parents, sisters Florence and Frances, his twin brother Ray and brothers Thomas and Hugh. He is survived by several nephews and nieces. Arrangements are being handled by Kratz Funeral home, Fox Lake. There will be a Catholic funeral liturgy at Annuciation Catholic Parish in Fox Lake on Wednesday, September 12, at 11:00 a.m., with burial next to his wife Leone at Riverside Cemetery in Fox Lake. There is no visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to your favorite charity.
