Badger Blade March 9, 1923 James Crinion James Crinion died at his home in Fountain Prairie, Feb. 25th, from the infirmities of old age. He was born in the County Louth, Ireland, Feb. 2, 1832. His vigorous constitution was developed beneath those azure skies, and in early manhood his ambition brought him to the United States. January 7, 1857, he was united in marriage with Miss Mary Ann McMahon and for a few years they lived in different parts of Otsego township and then settled on the old homestead in Fountain Prairie. Their early married life was sorrowed by the death of three children and hardly had the pangs of sorrow passed away when another daughter Mrs. Van Houklan and in a few years Mary, beloved by all who knew her, next the mother died, followed in a few years by James; so it has been one series of misfortune, that the aged father had to bear as only a brave man could, with his son Charles who remained always to aid and assist him when ever he needed it. Mrs. Spooner died in 1910 after only a brief illness. Besides Charles, David of Beaver Dam and John of Superior still survived to mourn his loss. "Mr. Crinion", as he was commonly known and revered, was a man highly respected for many years he spent in the county and vicinity. A splendid singer, and accomplished flute player and a great reader, made him very companionable. A splendid character, kind and lovable, who will ever be kindly remembered by countless friends. The funeral was held Friday morning at St. Patrick's Catholic Church and the service was changed by his parish priest, Father Faust of Lost Lake.
