403. Charles John⁵ Coulthart Jr. (Marion Josephine⁴ Todish, John Edward³, George², Martin¹) was born in Racine, Racine Cty, WI January 15, 1937. Charles died September 15, 2006 in Whitewater, Walworth Cty, WI, at 69 years of age.

Wisconsin State Journal September 17, 2006 Coulthart, Charles J. "Chuck" Jr. WHITEWATER - Charles John "Chuck" Coulthart Jr. passed away at his home on Friday, Sept. 15, 2006. He was born Jan. 15, 1937, in Racine, to Charles and Marian (Todish) Coulthart Sr. A graduate of Racine Park High School, he entered the U.S. Marine Corps and later received an honorable discharge to help care for his ailing mother. Then he enrolled at UW-Whitewater, where he played football for four years under coach Forrest Perkins and was later elected to the UW-Whitewater Hall of Fame in 1979. Chuck graduated in 1961, with a bachelor's degree in elementary education. In 1976, he earned a master's degree in safety education. During his final year at UW-Whitewater he met the love of his life, JoAnne Jenson; they married Aug. 26, 1961, in Edgerton. In 1961, Chuck taught fifth grade in Racine, before returning to Whitewater, in 1962, where he taught until his retirement in 1997. He taught driver education until the summer of 2006. In 1964, in addition to his teaching responsibilities, Chuck was hired by the city of Whitewater to work in the Recreation Department. He added the title of recreation director in 1969, a position he held until 1976. Upon his resignation from the city, he became the athletic director at Whitewater High School and taught driver education. During his spare time, he was a W.I.A.A. official from 1957 to 2004 for football, basketball, baseball, softball and volleyball, a site coordinator for the Badger State Games (1985-2005), UW-Whitewater "W" Club treasurer (1963-2001), Whitewater Aquatic Center Board member (2001-2006), WIAC Football Official Observer (1990-2005), and UW-W Hall of Fame Board member (1985-2006). Chuck spent countless hours working for the community. He served on the Whitewater City Council from 1990-1994, serving as the President the final two years. He was an active member in the Jaycees, Rotary and Kiwanis. He championed many projects including, increasing opportunities for women in athletics, the widening of Main Street and Setting Whitewater In Motion (SWIM). Chuck was also involved with raising money for many projects such as athletic fields at the high school, lights for the fields, and a press box for the football field. He received many awards including, Outstanding Jaycee Award, the Community Distinguished Service Award and the George M. Hixson Fellow Award through Kiwanis. Chuck is survived by his wife of 45 years, Jo; and two sons, Tim (Madonna) and their daughters, Chelsea and Haley, all of Madison, and Craig (Lori) and their daughters, Jessica and Carly, all of Sun Prairie; sisters, Marilyn Martin of Racine, Judie (Ray) Nielsen of Mesa, Ariz., Gail (Mike) Johnson of Racine, and Jennie (George) Pfister of Racine; brothers, Ray (Dawn) of Racine, and Al (Rosie) of Union Grove; along with 14 nieces and nephews; stepmother, Hazel Coulthart of Racine; mother-in-law, Mary Jenson of Edgerton; and an aunt, Arlyce Trossen of Greeley, Colo. He was preceded in death by his parents. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2006, at the CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH-UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST in Whitewater, officiated by Pastor Christine Stack. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2006, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the church and again on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. The Skindingsrude Funeral home is assisting the family. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to United Church of Christ, Rainbow Hospice of Jefferson, or a scholarship fund in his name.
