45. Frank Oliver (Bob)3 Todish (George2, Martin1) was born in Big Rapids, MI December 30, 1885. Frank died July 23, 1977 in Grand Rapids, Kent Cty, MI, at 91 years of age. His body was interred in Woodlawn Cemetery.
He married Jennie Amanda Johnson June 28, 1910. Jennie was born in Stoughton, Dane Cty, WI December 22, 1889. Jennie was the daughter of John Mostad Johnson. Jennie died April 30, 1959 in Grand Rapids, Kent Cty, MI, at 69 years of age. Her body was interred in Woodlawn Cemetery. Auxiliary Leader Dies Mrs. F. O. Todish Heart Victim Mrs. Frank O. (Jennie) Todish, 69, of 1419 Hazen St., SE, Grand Rapids resident 38 years and active in veterans' auxiliary, died unexpectedly of a heart attack in her home Thursday. Mrs. Todish was born in Stoughton, Wis. She was president of the Stewart-Howe auxiliary, American Legion; a charter member and past president of the Red Arrow auxiliary and delegate to the Grand Rapids American Legion Auxiliary council. Aids Civic Drives Mrs. Todish also was active in many civic drives. She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary church. Surviving besides her husband are two sons, Robert C. of Grand Rapids and Harry of Chicago; two daughters, Mrs. Irene Eberhard of Grand Rapids and Mrs. Peter Newman of Germany; four brothers, Henry Johnson of Racine, Wis., and Clarence, Emil and Floyd of Menominee, and five grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in Immaculate Heart of Mary church. The body is at the Jonkhoff funeral home. Grand Rapids Press July 25, 1977 TODISH - Mr. Frank O. Todish Frank was born December 30, 1885 in Big Rapids, Michigan to George and Josephine (Kletschka) Todish, both immigrants from Warsaw Poland. Soon after they arrived they and their two sons settled in Menominee. This union produced seven children; Martin, Frank, Walter, Helen, John, Sophie and George. Frank ("Bobby" as he was know to all) covered a lot of ground as a kid growing up in Finntown. Capt. of Finntown Tigers baseball team and later the Peninsular Box and Lumber Co. he represented Menominee for several years on the diamond. June 28, 1910 he married the former Jennie Johnson, daughter of Anna and John Mostad Johnson born December 22, 1889 in Stoughton, Wis. Anna and John immigrated from Norway. Jennie served her community during World War I by her many Red Cross activities and also in World War II with the Red Cross and many volunteer projects. Frank and Jennie were the parents of Irene Eberhard, Robert, Harry and Barbara Newman who died August 1, 1969. Jennie passed away April 30, 1959. Frank served as Alderman on the City Council for many terms. He joined the Michigan National Guard at age 19 with which he was affiliated most of his life. In 1916 his Unit was called during the Houghton Miners Strike. When his Unit, part of 32nd Red Arrow Division, was activated during World War I Todish was a Capt. He never quite got over the disappointment of being sent back home because of a hernia, before he could go overseas. He dropped out of the Guard for a few years after moving to Grand Rapids in 1920. As a part-time soldier he again saw strike duty inside General Motors Corp plant in Flint, 1937. Todish was 54 when he finally got his chance to fight in a war. The Red Arrow was activated in 1940 to participate in a "young man's war". As a Sgt. Major in 126th Infantry Regiment, he fought in the Asiatic and Pacific theaters. He never was wounded but caught malaria. Later, he was part of the peacekeeping forces in Japan. He left the Guard a few years later with rank of Chief Warrant Officer. He worked until age 75 as a civilian at Guard Headquarters in Lansing driving a distance of 130 miles daily from Grand Rapids. Todish was an Officer at Local and State levels and a lifetime member of many organizations. He participated in the hanging of a plaque in Trophy Room at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington National Cemetery to commemorate the 32nd National Guard Division of Michigan and Wisconsin. He was the oldest living and active member of the Amvets at the time he passed away July 23, 1977 at age 91. He mowed his lawn that day. The military wasn't Frank Todish's career, but it was his life.

nephews, Timothy J. (Colleen) Todish, Terrance S. (Marian) Todish and Kathleen (Michael) Domers, Steve (Marge) Newman; many more nieces,
nephews, cousins and a special cousin, Mary June Grandaw of Menominee, MI; special friends, Marilyn Hoogeboom and Phyllis Erwin, who helped
her much in her final days. Irene was a member of the Grand Rapids Womens City Club, Grand Rapids Credit Womens Club (Charter President),
the Business and Professional Womens Club, member of Stewart Howe Veterans Aux., Claudian League For Crippled Children, Red Arrow Aux., Carl
Johnson Post #2 Aux. and Post Grads Group at I.H.M. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, August 7, 1998, at 11 AM in
Immaculate Heart of Mary Church (meet at church) with Reverend Vu presiding. Luncheon to follow Mass. Irene will be in the narthex of the
church for viewing one hour before the mass. Memorials to Hospice of Grand Rapids, IHM Church, or to a charity of your choice. A Rosary
Service will be held Thursday at 7 PM and family will receive friends Thursday, August 6, 1998 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM at Ofield Funeral
