2. Gerhart (Jerry)2 Udelhofen (Nicholas1) was born in Potosi, Grant Cty, WI July 12, 1873. Gerhart died November 23, 1943 in Harrison Twsp, Grant Cty, WI, at 70 years of age.

He married Mary Emma VanNatta in Harrison Twsp, Grant Cty, WI, April 16, 1895. Mary was born in Harrison Twsp, Grant Cty, WI December 15, 1874. Mary was the daughter of William Barnette VanNatta and Teresa Elizabeth Toulouse. Mary died April 4, 1958 in Harrison Twsp, Grant Cty, WI, at 83 years of age. Platteville Journal April 24, 1958 Mrs. Jerry Udelhofen Emma Mary was the daughter of Barney and Teresa VanNatta. She was born at Cornelia, Dec. 15, 1875. She spent her entire life in and around this vicinity. She attended early school at Browner school and later at Potosi High school. She was united in marriage with Jerry Udelhofen on April 16, 1895. To this Union twelve children were born who with the exception of one daughter who died in early infancy, survive. She was a kind and thoughtful mother and grandmother. She did not desire anything for herself that she could not share with her family and friends. She became fatally ill April 2. She was taken to Municipal Hospital where everything possible was done to prolong her life, but the Lord had other plans for her and she passed peacefully beyond at 5 a.m. on April 4. She had attained the age of 82 years, 3 months and 19 days. She leave her loving children, seven sons, George, Tom, Frank, Harry, and Bernard Udelhofen, of, Platteville and Maynard of Cuba City; four daughters, Mrs. Sophia Reiter, Platteville; Mrs. Bessie Clauer, Dubuque; Mrs. Philip Ames and Mrs. Oliver Bierman, both of Potosi; forty-six grandchildren, sixty-six great grandchildren, one brother, William VanNatta, Platteville and one sister, Mrs. Etta Knabel of Livingston, also many other relatives and a host of friends. Her husband and son Otto, four brothers and six sisters preceded her in death. She was a member of the Altar Society and served whenever a loving and helpful hand was needed. Funeral services were held on Monday, April 7, 9:30 in St. Andrew's Catholic church, Tennyson with Father Garland Muller, Bakersville, officiating at the requiem mass. Burial was made in the adjoining cemetery. Cuba City News-Herald April 10, 1958 Mrs. Emma Udelhofen Funeral services for Mrs. Emma Udelhofen, 83, who died Friday morning at Platteville Municipal hospital, were held Monday morning at 9:30 in St. Andrew's Catholic Church, Tennyson, with Father Garland Muller, Bakersville, officiating at the requiem Mass. Burial was made in the adjoining cemetery. Mrs. Udelhofen was born Dec. 12 in Harrison township, the daughter of Barney and Theresa Toulouse VanNatta. She was married to Jerry Udelhofen, who preceded her in death many years ago. Survivors are seven sons, George Udelhofen, Thomas, Frank, Harry, Bernard and Otto Udelhofen, all of Platteville, Maynard Udelhofen of Cuba City; 4 daughters, Mrs. Sophia Reiter, Platteville, Mrs. Bessie Clauer, Dubuque, Mrs. Philip Ames and Mrs. Oliver Bierman, both of Potosi; 46 grandchildren, 66 great grandchildren; 1 brother, William VanNatta, and one sister, Mrs. Etta Knabel, Platteville. The Rosary was recited Saturday and Sunday nights at the Eckstein Funeral Home, Potosi, at 8 o'clock. Platteville Journal Thursday, December 9, 1943 OBITUARIES Jerry Udelhofen Mr. Jerry Udelhofen was bon in Potosi Township in the year of 1874, and passed away at his home on Nov. 23, 1943. At the time of his death he was 70 yrs., 4 mo. And 11 days old. He was a son of the late Nicholas and Elizabeth Dienhardt Udelhofen. In the year of 1894 he was married to Miss Emma VanNatta. To this union were born 12 children. Those who mourn his loss are his 7 sons, George, Thomas, Frank at Cornelia, Wis., Harry, Bernard and Otto Udehofen at Platteville, and Maynard at Cuba City and four daughters, Sophia, Mrs. Pearley Reiter, Platteville, Mable, Mrs. Phillip Ames of Detroit, Michigan, Elizabeth, Mrs. Raymond Schroeder Dubuque, Ia., and Ruth Mrs. Oliver Bierman, Elizabeth Ill. One daughter passed away in infancy, and two brothers Jacob Udelhofen of Potosi and Otto Udelhofen of Cuba City and three sisters, Mrs. Daisy Cardey of Modesta, Cal, Mrs. Bertha Turner of St. Louis, Mrs. Ida Miller of St.Paul, Minn., and hosts of friends and relatives who will miss the ministering of his willing hands and many will remember some act or deed that he gave in their trials. He was a devoted member of the Catholic Church and Holy Name Society. He followed the occupation of farming and mining. Funeral services were conducted November 26, at Tennyson, Wis. Rev E Bettinger, officiating. Burial was in the adjoining cemetery. Pallbearers were six grandsons, Leland, Raymond, Myrin, Lloyd and Dale Udelhofen and Walter Timmerman.
