He married Clara Etta Elliot in Nashua, IA, July 12, 1930. Clara was born in Big Patch, Grant Cty, WI March 7, 1914. Clara died March 7, 1994 in Lancaster, Grant Cty, WI, at 80 years of age. Telegraph Herald March 8, 1994 Clara Udelhofen Klaas Platteville, Wis. - Services for Clara Udelhofen Klaas, 80, of Platteville, will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, Dickeyville. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Mergen-Boll Funeral Home, Platteville, where there will be a parish rosary at 7:30 p.m. Friends also may call after 9:30 a.m. Friday at the church. Mrs. Klaas worked for the Cuba City school system, where she was a census taker for many years. She and her husband also farmed in the Dickeyville-Paris Township area. She was born on March 7, 1914, at Big Patch, Grant County, daughter of William and Amelia (Kase) Elliot. She died Monday morning, March 7, 1994, at the Lancaster Care Center. She married Maynard Udelhofen on July 12, 1930, at the Little Brown Church, Nashua, Iowa; he died in 1980. She later married Leonard Klaas on October 10, 1981; they lived at rural Platteville. She attended the Platteville schools. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Platteville, and the Holy Christian Mother's Sodality at Dickeyville. She enjoyed music, dancing, playing cards and traveling. Surviving are her husband, Leonard Klaas, of Platteville; a daughter Joyce (Merlin "Tony") Puls, of Dickeyville; a stepdaughter, Maxine (Joseph) McKillip, of Freeport, Ill.; two sons, William (Kathy) Udelhofen, of Cuba City, and Roger (Eileen) Udelhofen, of Kieler; a step son Eugene (Phylis) Klaas, of Lancaseter, a son-in-law, Ernie (Carol) Droessler, of Cubat City; 14 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren, nine step grandchildren and 13 step-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and her first husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Beverly Droessler, a brother James Byrnes; two sisters, Berneice Friedlien and Lena Lackner, and two great-grandsons, Shawn and Jonah Droessler.
Telegraph Herald August 17, 1980 Maynard J. Udelhofen Dickeyville, Wis. - Maynard J. Udelhofen, 74, of 220 N. Third St., died Saturday morning at the Cuba City (Wis.) Medical Center. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Holy Ghost Church here, with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 1 to 5 and 6 to 10 p.m. Sunday at the Haudenshield Funeral home, Cuba City. The Catholic Daughters of America rosary will be said at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, and the parish rosary at 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Mr. Udelhofen was a retired farmer. He was a member of the Catholic Order of Forresters and the Holy Ghost Holy Name Society. Surviving are his wife, the former Clara Elliott; a daughter, Mrs. Merlin (Joyce) Puls of Cuba City; two sons, William of Cuba City and Roger of Kieler, Wis.; 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Sophie Reiter of Platteville, Wis., Mrs. Phillip (Mabel) Ames and Mrs. Oliver (Ruth) Bierman, both of Potosi, Wis., and Mrs. Clyde (Bessie) Clauer of Beetown, Wis., and three brothers, Thomas and Harry, both of Platteville, and Bernard of Dickeyville, Wis.
