18. Bessie Elizabeth3 Udelhofen (Gerhart (Jerry)2, Nicholas1) was born March 17, 1912. Bessie died August 22, 1994 in Dubuque, Dubuque Cty, IA, at 82 years of age.
She married twice. She married Raymond Schroeder Sr. She married Clyde Clauer in Galena, Jo Daviess Cty, IL, July 29, 1952. Elizabeth "Bess" Clauer, 82, of rural Glen Haven, died Monday morning, August 22, 1994 at Finley Hospital in Dubuque, IA. She was born on March 17, 1912 in Harrison Township of Grant County, the daughter of Jerry and Emma (VanNatta) Udelhofen. She was married to Clyde Clauer, Jr on July 29, 1952 at Galena, IL. She loved to travel and take fishing trips to Canada. Surviving include her husband, Clyde Clauer of Glen Haven; four sons, Bob and Millie Schroeder of Guttenberg, Iowa, Vern and Shirley Schroeder of Flemington, MO, Frank and Josie Schroeder of Deming, NM, and Ray and Gwen Schroeder of Los Angeles, CA; five daughters, Ruth and Charley Gassman of Dubuque, Alice Droessler of Dubuque, Elaine and Don Sawvel of Dubuque, Grace Reisner of Onalaska, and Jean and John Wallace of Davenport, Iowa; two step-sons, Gary and Mary Jane Clauer of Dubuque and Dennis Clauer of Dubuque; 40 grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Ruth Bierman of Potosi. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Joan; a granddaughter, Roxanne Schroeder; one great-granddaughter, Ashley Gassman in 1992; two sisters; and seven brothers. Funeral services will be held today (Thursday), 2 P.M. at the Metcalfe-Kuenster-Page Funeral Home in Potosi with Pastor Jan Brooks officiating. Burial will be in Beetown Cemetery at Beetown. The Metcalfe-Kuenster-Page Funeral Home of Potosi is in charge of arrangements.
