He married Ruth M Burbach in Kieler, Grant Cty, WI, October 12, 1948. Ruth was born in Grant Cty, WI May 23, 1931. Ruth was the daughter of Waltar Burbach and Marian Horn. Ruth died January 14, 2009 in Brodhead, Green Cty, WI, at 77 years of age. Telegraph Herald January 16, 2009 Ruth M. Udelhofen KEILER, Wis. -- Ruth M. Udelhofen, 77, of Rockton, Ill., formerly of Keiler, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2009, in Woods Crossing Nursing Home, Brodhead, after a lengthy illness. Services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 18, at Daley-Murphy-Wisch & Associates Funeral Home and Crematorium, Beloit, with the Rev. Tina Koenig-Ray officiating. Burial will be in Wisconsin Veterans Cemetery, King. She was born on May 23, 1931, in Grant County, daughter of Walter and Marian Horn Burbach. She married Merlin Udelhofen on Oct. 12, 1948, in Kieler; he preceded her in death on Nov. 16, 1991. Ruth and Merlin owned and operated the Rockton Inn, Rockton, from 1959 to 1977. She also worked for a short time at Regal Beloit. She also was a caregiver to several people over the years. Her love of gardening, flowers and bird watching gave her great joy. Ruth spent many happy hours outdoors on her knees. She was lucky to have spent several years "wintering" in sunny California as well as taking many train vacations. Ruth was always known for her excellent cooking skills. Mom we will miss your home cooking, "turkey crap." Surviving are her daughter, Ginger (Bob) Bleckeberg, of Beloit; three sons, Frank Udelhofen, of Rockton, Dan (Linda) Udelhofen, of Caledonia, Ill., and Kevin Udelhofen, of Beloit; five grandchildren, Chad Udelhofen, Brent (Mindy) Udelhofen, Eric (Heather) Udelhofen, Michael Udelhofen and Ryan (Kelly) Udelhofen; six great-grandchildren, Adam, Kaitlin, Lucas, Rykurt, Haven and Addison; three brothers, Bob (Blanche) Burbach, of Mineral Point, Larry (Bev) Burbach, of Platteville, and Bill (Judy) Burbach, of Hazel Green; two sisters, Bette (Kenny) Pickel, of East Dubuque, Ill., and Mary Lou (Gordy) Trowbridge, of Kieler; many other family and friends; and right-hand helper, Connor. Telegraph Herald November 18, 1991 Merlin Udelhofen Funeral services will be held at 1:30 today at the Wisconsin Veteran's Home at King, Wis. for Merlin F. Udelhofen, 66, who died there Saturday, Nov. 16, 1991. Father Paul Vanden Hogen will officiate at the services Tuesday, Nov. 19. Burial will be in the Veteran's Memorial Cemetery. Friends may call at the Main Chapel one hour prior to the time of service. Udelhofen was born April 15, 1925, in Paris Township, the son of Frank and mary Richards Udelhofen. He served in World War II. He married Ruth Burbach on Oct. 12, 1948. They owned and operated the Rockton, Ill. Inn from 1959-1977. He then worked for Nielson Engineering in South Beloit, IL until his retirement in 1982. He had been a resident of the Wisconsin Veteran's Home since 1983. He was a member of the Rockton American Legion and the Roscoe, IL V.F.W. He was a former member of the Rockton Volunteer Fire Department. Survivors include his wife, Ruth; one daughter, Mrs. Bob (Ginger) Bleckeberg of Beloit; three sons, Francis of Rockton, IL, Dan of Calendonia, IL, and Kevin of Beloit; his mother, Mary Udelhofen of Platteville; five grandchildren; one brother, Wilfred of Cassville; and two sisters, Stella Timmerman of Cuba City and Mrs. Bill (Mabel) Tobin of Potosi. The Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca was in charge of arrangements.
