Green Lantern, 1960 series, issues 41-89: These issues begin to mark a change in Hal Jordan's character and his relationships. Starting with issue 49, Hal leaves Coast City and his love Carol Ferris, and hits the road, becoming an insurance claims adjuster in Evergreen City and even a toy salesman for a while, before returning home to Coast City. The culmination of his odyssey is his social awakening in issue 76, at which point he teams with Green Arrow and once again hits the road to discover America. These are some of his most famous (and award-winning) adventures, especially issues 85 and 86, which deal with the drug addiction of Green Arrow's sidekick, Speedy. These issues also mark the introduction of alternate Green Lanterns Guy Gardner (#59) and John Stewart (#87). Issue 89, an environmental issue, is the final issue of the series for a few years; Hal's adventures continue in Flash Comics, issues 217 - 246, before he (and Green Arrow) get their own series back (continuing with issue #90.)
