One of Master Erik's pet projects is an early period Celtic/Viking encampment
at Gulf Wars at King's Arrow Ranch in Lumberton, MS. In an alliance with the
Bastarnai, an early Germanic/Celtic fighter household, this encampment has
been a positive presence at Gulf Wars for eight years running.
The camping group got dubbed "Bastarmark" and was granted lands for a more
perminent site to allow more extensive and accurate representations of
early period camps to be constructed. This site's educational area is now
known as The Early Period Life Area (EPL). It specifically offers classes on
many subjects about the type of life and crafts available pre-1066AD.

In the Spring of 2000, just after Gulf Wars, construction started at the
permanent campsite. The gate and Icelandic Althing House were successfully
re-located to the new campsite.

The Newest addition to the site is a wood burning ceramic kiln
constructed by Mistress Anyetta.
As the fire builds another craft becomes a permanent part of the
Early Period Life Area. Thanks Anyetta.
