Chants, Songs,
Poems and Rhymes
These are some of the chants,
songs, poems and rhymes that I have collected and use in my classroom.
Some have been put onto sentence strips for reading around the room, some
made into big books and individual books for the students, and some are
written and illustrated on poster board then displayed in the classroom.
I try to type out each poem, etc. add art work to color or a space for
their own art work, and send home at least one per week in each students’
individual Poetry Journal. I also make a copy of each, and place
in a covered detergent box labeled, ”Our Poetry Box.”
Apple
(to the tune of BINGO)
I know a fruit that grows
on trees;
an apple is its name, oh!
(Chorus)
A. P. P. L. E.
A. P. P. L. E.
A. P. P. L. E.
An apple is its name, oh!
In summer and in early fall
It's time to pick an apple!
Chorus
It may be sweet or may be
tart,
It's red, or green, or yellow!
Chorus
A McIntosh or Granny Smith,
A Wine sap or Delicious!
Chorus
Make applesauce or apple juice
or apple pie with apples!
Chorus
Ten Little Apples
One little, two little, three
little apples,
four little, five little,
six little apples,
seven little, eight little,
nine little apples.
Ten little apples on the tree.
Picking Apples
(to the tune of "Frère
Jacques")
Picking apples, picking apples,
One by one, one by one.
Put them in a basket, put
them in a basket.
Oh what fun! Oh what fun!
One Apple, Two Apples
One apple,
two apples,
three apples,
four.
Five apples,
six apples,
seven apples,
more.
Nine apples,
ten apples.
Apples galore!
Applesauce
Peel an apple,
cut it up,
and cook it in a pot.
When you taste it
you will find
its applesauce you've got!
Worm In An Apple
by Terry E. Qualls
Worm in an apple,
worm in an apple,
worm in an apple,
oo, oo, oo!
Worm in an apple,
worm in an apple.
A bite for me
and a bite for you!
